Skoda YETI 4x4 Off-Road Test

There are four diesel and three petrol engines to choose from for the Skoda Yeti -- all turbocharged and with direct injection. The performance spectrum ranges from the 1.2 TSI with 77 kW and 105 hp to the 2.0 TDI with 125 kW and 170 hp. The fifth generation front- or all-wheel drive with Haldex coupling is fitted depending on the engine specs. As an automatic transmission, the ŠKODA Yeti exclusively uses the modern six or seven-speed dual clutch transmission (DSG).

The Yeti GreenLine version with 77 kW 1.6 TDI, front wheel drive and a manual gearbox produces CO2 emissions of just 119 g/km. This corresponds to a consumption of 4.6 litres of diesel per 100 km (61 MPG).

Additionally, there are three Green tec engine variants for the 103 kW 2.0 TDI engine with manual six-speed transmission, 77 kW 1.6 TDI with seven-speed DSG and 90 kW 1.4 TSI petrol engine with manual six-speed transmission. The Green tec package includes the start-stop system, brake energy recovery (recuperation) and low rolling resistance tyres.

The diesel engine 2.0 TDI with 125 kW is now available with the fantastic combination of all-wheel drive and automatic six-speed dual clutch transmission. I have had a bmw, mercedes and a renault before yeti and i can honestly say that this car is not just a hype, it is the best car from every point of view, in my opinion. It is rugged and that is exactly what i want a car to be, most of the luxury is hidden, this is a car that does not have a need to boast... I love it

The 4x4 system in the yeti (when the optional 4x4 button is fitted) is very capable and coupled with some good all season tyres has surprisingly good traction, I used my fathers during the heavy snow this past winter (heavy enough that we were cut of for a few days) and it was only let down by the lack of ground clearance, the only other vehicles about were true off-roaders and it held its own, great car, just needs to be 3-4 inches higher.

I have a Yeti, same Muscavado colour as the one in the video, and 2 litre turbo diesel. It is an excellent, practical, economical car. Good tow car, and superb in snow, ice, and mud. It pulls very well from a little over 1100 rpm.
