Skoda Yeti SUV (2009-2013) review - CarBuyer

The Skoda Yeti is a well-priced 'crossover' alternative to conventional family hatchbacks like the Ford Focus. The majority of Yetis are front-wheel drive, but the raised suspension does mean it'll venture further off road than most regular cars, while speed bumps in town hold absolutely no fear.

I've had the 110 diesel version of the Yeti for 8 months now, it still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it:)
Good all round review Matt.

Love our 2013 2.0 litre TDI 6 Speed DSG - 94, 000 Kms Down Under of delightful practicality.

Our other car is a 2018 Citroen C4 Cactus 1.2 turbo petrol 6 speed auto. Just did 5, 500 kms with 1, 950 kms in 3 days from Sydney to the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia.
Both cars very endearing.... and then there is the 2CV6 Charleston for real fun..

My favourite Skoda and the only suv-like vehicle I would ever buy.

To +Azureecosse, the complaining about the 1.2 litre turbo engine: take it back to your dealer. I've just bought one of these for my mum, and it handles like a dream!

But on second thoughts, maybe you have a manual gearbox. I have automatic and notice that the gears shift extremely quickly into 4th and even 5th gear (at 40mph).

Anyway, I did a long bit of driving in it last night: high speeds, twisty roads going up long mountain roads and the engine's rev counter hardly climbed above 2, 000 RPM in 7th gear! The HP is around 105, but don't let that fool you, the torque on this thing must be somewhere in the two hundreds, easily. And the MPG is amazing to boot.

This is coming from someone who drives (and loves) a Range Rover Evoque. I didn't think I could feel so secure in something smaller, but the Yeti is reassuringly heavy too and just hugs the road. Probably like that because of its low centre of gravity.

I'm just glad I didn't get a Nissan Qashqai or Subaru Forester or XV lol

I'm getting the 4x4 red color this week. The test drive was really good, and this red color makes it look tough and sporty. For its price, this is the cheapest & most practical SUV for anyone's needs.

Great review man, I like your style.

The only thing I would ask for in future reviews is a comparison of power / ground clearance / economy between competitors in the segment.

Thanks!

The pillar behind the front doors . The way they curve up remind me of the Lancia Stratos which is something i would never imagine myself saying about a Skoda 4X4 crossover .

It’s always one of these cars that I am stuck behind on the B road at 12 mph below the speed limit

Skoda vehicles are not available in North American countries because they havent passed the Ambiental test to be sold. They arent also available in some latin american countries like Ecuador, Peru and Argentina. But they still great cars and very very safety for lateral crashes. 10/10 my opinion.
