I used eclipse about 15 years and now I like to use Intellij. At the beginning I struggled a lot with the debugger in Intellij and want to share my findings. For all eclipse users who try out Intellij, please set a breakpoint and set for it: "Suspend: Thread" and not All. Make it even default to get a similar debugger behavior like eclipse provides. I'm talking about multithreading debugging.

I really like JetBrains IDEs, i started to use them when i started to learn Python with PyCharm, was something really really nice, but Eclipse is just more simplier than IntelliJ, i really like both of them but i feel more comfortable using Eclipse

Im quiet new to Java programming and started off based on my Java course in Eclipse. yes it was a pain in the but to get where I am now interface wise where everything I need in Eclipse actually works...But, based on the recommendations of my mentor I am trying to migrate in IntelliJ. I cant help but feel that IntelliJ feels like a toy...I have no doubts in its powers and abilities but Eclipse with all the perspectives and windows and customizability feels like a proper development environment.

IntelliJ just keeps crashing on my Mac. I moved back to Eclipse. It works very well. I also love Perspectives and Mylyn, which I cannot do without now and has no equal in Intellij.

Hey, how do I get IntellJ IDEA to now hang and stutter when using it? Do I need a bigger CPU or something? I'm using a SSD and 32GB of RAM and my cpu is just a two core AMD, but it has a 3.4Ghz rating. And the thing just won't run smoothly! Are their configuration settings that I'm not using or something?

Hi I exported my Javafx project to eclipse and checked all of the boxes "Convert selected modules into Eclipse-compatible format", "Export non-mudule libraries" but now I can't debug my intelij project because of "Java file outside of source root" and "Could not find or load main class sample.Main" how can I fix that?

Hi, the JRE (Java Runtime Environment) and the SDK (Software Development Kit) are different things and this is not related to a development tool.
