Ditch the Green Smoothies

Many people might not have the time or the inclination to cook their vegetables, so they throw kale and spinach, two “health foods” into a blender with some other ingredients to make what is known as a “green smoothie,” which is quite popular nowadays. In addition, many people think that cooking the food “kills” many of the nutrients in the food, so it is best to take your vegetables raw.
According to the ancient rishis of India who cognized India — this is definitely not the case! In fact, even without microscopes they were able to cognize at a deep level of consciousness that many vegetables have problems associated with them and these problems would go away if you cook them.
How prescient they were! We now know that kale contains two compounds which can depress the thyroid gland function and both spinach and kale contain oxalates which pull the calcium out of the body depriving the bones of their much needed source of nourishment and can also increase the likelihood of developing kidney stones as well. But these troublesome compounds in spinach and kale are reduced up to 80% by the cooking process, making them safe to consume.
The video discusses other reasons why the cold smoothies may disrupt your health — some of the ingredients which go into these smoothies can clog the body’s delicate system of physical channels, channels which carry bodily fluids such as digestive juices, lymphatic fluids, toxins, urine and sweat, for example. The pea and whey proteins sometimes used are too clogging to this delicate network of physical channels, as are bananas, cold coconut milk and avocados. Plus the frozen fruits added to the mixture can put out your digestive fire, making it very difficult to burn up the food.
A recipe is given, known as “Green Protein” which was developed by my teacher and mentor, Vaidya Rama Kant Mishra, which involves cooking the spinach, kale or other greens and adding fats such as olive oil and ghee, as well as spices and blending them together to make a much more nourishing alternative to the cold clogging smoothies which will be easily absorbed into the cells and not disrupt one’s channels or digestive fire.
And the opposite is true: cooking the vegetables actually softens the vegetable fibers so that even if some nutrients are destroyed in the cooking process, the net result is that even more nutrients will be taken up into the cells, especially if the recipe contains fats which carry the nutrients across the cell wall and spices which stoke the digestive fire, increasing the absorption of the nutrients.
So please think twice about making these cold channel-clogging smoothies which increase your risk of kidney stones and can weaken your bones. There is a better alternative out there which is much more nourishing and easier on your digestive processes. And it takes only about 5 minutes to make! About the same amount of time as the cold smoothie.
