I actually moonwalked out of my company commanders office the day I got my DD-214. Took a lot of practice, and the 1sg was in on it.

The two best days in the life of a Marine are his boot camp graduation and the day he gets his DD214.

When I finally got my DD 214 and blue ID card, It felt like I had gotten a large, fully loaded ruck off of my back. I floated out of that building. And when the girl who was doing the finial out processing started calling me "Sir" instead of SGT, it started sinking

Just thinking about it makes me

My old Platoon SGT. (a SFC) was just over a year from retirement when the SGM talked to him about making E-8. His response was, "The Army can take those extra $400 and shove it up they ass. I want my DD-214 at 20!"

Just got mine today, everyone in battalion got to see it, whether they wanted to or not. Like some shady trench coat flasher, but instead of 3 inches of disappointment, it's 12 inches of freedom.

When I became an MP, I was told I would be policing a lot...they actually meant that I would be cleaning a lot...the lot in front of the barracks...

Driving off the base at Fort Stewart, Georgia heading north. When I found that big sign that said, "You are now leaving..." I hit the brakes got out of my car and mooned both sign and the direction of the post. Threw off my old BDUs into the swampy ditch. A car drove by me, knew exactly what was happening, yelled out to me, "YOU LUCKY BASTARD!!!!" I laughed all the way back to Michigan.

The day I got my DD-214, I finally signed out of my company at Ft. Carson and drove out the B st. gate. Just as I passed through the gate, I stopped my truck, got out and yelled back....”so long motherf$&kers!” I was so happy.

Each year during my ETS anniversary, I come back to this video and smile. I made the right choice after 6 years! Shit, its coming up March 2nd and I'm celebrating all over again. This puts a smile on my face as I'm typing!

I just reenlisted yesterday. Before I did the Oath of Enlistment my CO stepped up to me and said, "Last chance, you sure you wanna do this shit?" Damn damn damn... what have I done? Gimme that ole Marine Corps spirit.

The day I got out, my chief said “you have two hours to clear medical and dental and be off this ship, because if you don’t we are heading to Guam for three months, and you’ll be going with us!” He didn’t like me to begin with. I got that shit done just in time to walk down the brow and be done with the Navy, with a hangover to boot!

I was a POG in the Marines...all I used to do was type up other guys' DD214's. I processed hundreds of Marines out...everytime I handed one his dd214 I was daydreaming like that. Then one day, I got to type up my own. Best one I ever did!

Being a friend of two veterans and understanding a fraction of the stuff they went through. I can honestly say this cracks me up every time.
