Genius idea to add the spare nut! Thanks for the great video with helpful insights!

Coleman has been making solid, dependable products for decades. When I was a kid, camping with the family, we had a couple of lanterns and a couple of stoves. My brother still has them and they still work. All of them over 50 years old.

Like you point out, filtering the fuel is important. Replace the seals every decade or so, and Coleman lanterns will last and last.

I like your idea for the hidden emergency nut. A little insurance against the inevitable human failure.

I just love the way Granny shows how to pour fuel from the side of the can with the spout down while instructions for the correct way, with the spout up, are clearly visible on the can.

Spare nut should be brass as the original fastener is! A steel nut with the intense heat it absorbs may become so tightly fastened to the stud you cannot remove it! That is why the original is Brass.

The fuel can shows pouring with the spout at the opposite end of the can from what you showed for a reason. When the can is full, you'll spill if you try to pour with the spout at the bottom.

Dear Granny thanks for the video. You mention using your lantern in your tent. Please beware that these gas lanterns give off carbon monoxide and should be used only with plenty of ventilation so you don't kill or poison yourself.

Coleman recommends you never use a gas lantern in a tent. They are not only a fire hazard, but also asphyxiation.

I had never thought about getting a nut from the hardware store (I would probably get several!), in case you drop the original and it rolls to some crack and you cannot find it. THANK you!

Nice video! I have a question for you, what is the model of this Small lantern? Thankyou.

These lanterns produce carbon monoxide, so I don't think putting one in a tent is a good idea. You might never wake up.

What a horrible nasal voice - an immediate turn-off irrespective of content.
