As a valet in my past, I wouldn't valet a car with a breathalyzer. Seems like an insurance risk.

This is actually a misdemeanor in a lot of states. Felony if the person gets into a accident.

Just drive the car to the door and switch the engine off and get out. Then the driver will have to start the car by blowing the meter.

I am sorry Valet should not even take a car with a breathalyzer in it that sounds like more possible problems than should be or pull it up and then shut it off again so he doesnt walk to his car but he never comes back cuz he doesnt want to blow in front of an audience.

If you’re drunk and blow into your breathalyzer it will lock up the Ignition system and the vehicle has to be towed to the retail outlet it was installed at. I had one for a year, perfect record with mine. I think I still have the letter,

Its not like it would matter anyway, as breathalyzers make you blow into them every few minutes even WHILE driving.

Not to mention normally, the car is equipped with a camera for that exact reason so that they know when the car starts but the person who is driving, it is the one that blew into it and he’s not having his buddy or in this case of valet, who sober blow into it for him

The law states we cannot legally do breathalyzer starts for anyone.
If your vehicle has one, we cannot valet the vehicle.

Yeah multiple time offenders have cameras placed inside the cars specifically for that reason.

These are a pain in the ass to work on as a mechanic too, have to call the customer to come in to blow on them to move them

Even if you wanted to do it in pursuit of a great tip, the modern systems take a photo of the driver when the breathalyzer is used. They also will make you use the breathalyzer at random times throughout a trip, not only upon startup... So using the breathalyzer to start the vehicle for a guest wouldn't be some sort of get out of jail free card. Luckily I'm my decade+ experience as a valet I've only ever experienced situations where the owner of a car with a breathalyzer needs to be walked to their car to pass the test themself, then the valet drives the car out of the garage for insurance purposes. If possible, it's better to leave the car in a more accessible space outside of a secured garage to facilitate a more seamless departure for the guest- just walk them to their car and send them on their way.
