Learn to split or separate a full name into two different columns this how to tutorial that works on excel 2016, 2013 and any other version.

While I am using a Mac, the process is the same if you are using PC/windows. So for example, if you are asked to Separate Contacts' First Name and Last Name in an Excel 2016 text faced during a job interview or for any other reason, you will be able to do it.

This excel 2016 tutorial uses =left and =right function combined with =len function and =find function to achieve our desired results.

Great video but this is pretty complicated to split a cell into first and last name. Using the "text to columns" button works much quicker and easier.

My data is coming in this format--- "HARDER, Mr. JESSE L" ----with all the names, the "Mr. and Mrs." in my list of names is throwing my (Left, Right and Mid) formula off can you give me any insight on how to by pass this issue? It uses "Mr." as my (MID) formula. and my (RIGHT) formula does not separate the first name from the middle initial. It keeps them together with the first name. I need first/Middle/Last name in separate cells.
