I think the developers of this distro really undersell how good it is with the whole "for Linux beginners" slogan. Because while, yeah, it is user-friendly, and its default setup is pretty similar to windows, it offers so much flexibility in terms of user configuration. It's rock-solid, snappy, and has straight-up the best assortment of default apps out of any other distribution. And outside of the dated software versions on the default PPA's, I hardly found any major issue with the system. It's pretty great.

Always thought this distro was a good way to start into Linux. Besides Mint, it's always been stable and easy to use. I like what they are doing!

I've been a Linux user for a few years now, and in my opinion Linux Lite is not just for beginners. It's one of my favourite distributions. It's clean, stable and lean and also easily customised. I'm a relatively experienced Linux user (15+ years), and I've been using Linux Lite since around 2015. I like XFCE, even on modern hardware, and Lite's improvements are nice. I add a lot of software to it, so its footprint is no longer small, but I've done enough installations now that I maintain a list of favorite packages.

Talk about Lite, I installed an older version (current at the time) on a pathetically weak Netbook - and it ran like a charm. Amazing.

This distro finally got me away from Windows and I'm SO glad I finally made the jump!

Update: After trying out different distros (Garuda Linux, Kubuntu), I've always found myself coming back to Linux Lite. It really has been the best experience for me so far and I'm just loving it. Granted it can be absolutely infuriating when you can't get something to work, but when you do get said thing to work it's just such a great feeling.

Linux Lite and Linux Mint are the two best XFCE distros for older systems. Nice review.

Linux Lite is actually a good Linux Distro. In my old PC (775 CPU Socket, just imagine how old it is) I used this for 1 year and not seen any problem till so far. Whereas in same old pc facing trouble to install Ubuntu Mate . It is indeed a Dark Horse in Linux Distro race.

1:58 " no prompt to eject installation media at the end of installation"..this WAS a bug in Linux Mint Cinnamon for the longest time off and on..and is why I always told noobs to select " continue testing" and then properly shut down the machine..THEN they'd know when it was safe to remove the install thumb drive to prevent an installation loop or messed up booting LM situation.

I don't run lite anymore but my favorite thing about it is that vlc was the default video player.

Used to love Linux Lite during the 3.X series. Then 4 happened and boot times would slow to a crawl. Feels like they added more and more bloat over the years that would do weird stuff like that. It's a very pretty desktop though and I miss it (but don't miss that you can't upgrade from one major release to another).
