Growing Pecan Trees That Produce Lots of Pecans

Pecan trees are a great fruit tree to grow. They produce a large quantity of pecans every other year and sometimes every year. Just like other fruit and nut trees pecan trees need a pollinator to perform the best and give the most fruit.

We have some very old pecan trees. 2 up front are the small native pecans- very delicious but a pain to crack. 1 in the back is an Indian pecan that is roundish and larger. There is also a paper shell in the middle of the pasture- large, long and easy to crack. None of them produced last year and they went on vacation. I found out that they like nitrogen so I fertilized the grass this year and am adding a little bit of wood ash as well because it contains some potassium and calcium. This should help get a huge harvest this year. Best of luck with yours! Deb😊
