The Basil Ganglia is a group of structures linked to the thalamus in the base of the brain and involved in coordination of movement.

The structures seen here include the caudate and putamen and if you look closely you can also see the thalamus.

"A place where axons cross both sides of the brain" = splenium of corpus callosum and forceps major (posterior).
Also she was showing the basal ganglia AND the thalamus (you know it's the thalamus because you can see the third ventricle clearly).
