I know that riding with no brakes is a part of fixie culture. But it's also a sign of lack of basic physics knowledge and common sense. Because of weight transfer, a front brake can provide up to 70% of total braking power. So without one you inevitably rid yourself of majority of braking power. Another important thing is reaction time. No one can convince me that even the most skilled fixie rider can brake with his legs as fast as a rider just pressing the brake lever.

I spend a lot of time on forums and in person defending us real roadies from angry drivers. I spend a lot of time explaining to them why it is perfectly legal and safer at times for cyclists to take the whole lane, slowly and cautiously roll through a stop sign when you are in a large group, and why it is sometimes safer to treat a red light as a stop and yield (because our bikes don not have enough mass to trip the signal sensor). 

But then idiots like this post crap like this and all it does is give all of us cyclists a bad reputation.  When people ride like this on the road, drivers get mad at all cyclists and it thus puts my life and the lives of other cyclists at greater risk.

So I will ask you to please stop being an ass and respect the other road users and the pedestrians.

This might be the first gopro video I thumbs downed.  I don't think bicyclists should use roads while ignoring road rules like stopping at intersections, weaving thru pedestrians and between lanes of stopped vehicles.  If you use the road, follow the rules?
