OP-1 is a digital synthesizer, drum machine, sampler, tape recorder and more. There's currently (12) Synth Engines on OP-1. Field features an additional Synth Engine called Dimension and Vocoder. It's got on board effects and an LFO. It's a unique device for standalone music production, use as a synth, sampler, sound module and other music related adventures.

Don't get obsessed with how these synths sound - it's their form factor, work flow and general hip value that makes them attractive. Great machines for getting back into the fun of mucking about with synths ....🙂

What on earth is the riff he's playing on the Phase synth engine? It's so familiar but I can't quite place it.

Can’t really decide which one sounds better. I like the charm of the original OP-1 but the hifi character of the new OP-1 is also great! 😮

To me, it mainly sounds smoother while the OG OP-1 has that characteristic fidelity paired with the style of the presets of the original since it appears they have been carried over. The field really stands out with the FM engine however. Much smoother, soothing tones from it.

the og looks more playful with the colours . I mostly make retro game music, the OG is a keeper for me :)
