Here in Jamaica 🇯🇲, it's also called fever grass - we use it mainly for tea (fresh or dried)...sometimes alone or with other herbs to make soothing tea for coughs and colds. To propagate, we simply pull out by the root, separate the clumps and replant straight into the ground-no need to place in water-catches and spreads again in no time😊

That's a huge dehydrator. I could use that in the summer or during harvest season. I have a small one. I love lemonbalm tea, too.

i live in central florida and have grown lemongrass from seed to great success. it's basically viable as an ornamental grass and i just scatter seeds around places (with a tiny bit of pretilling) where weeds normally like to poke through mulch. that said it is so easy to propogate via the rhizome that you needn't really mess with seed if you don't want to. excess lemongrass also has served me fairly well as a chop and drop mulch kinda like straw.

😂 love the chickens in the background congregating as soon as they hear you pruning. They seem hopeful!

NE of Raleigh here. I've been growing lemongrass from seed for 4 years. The first year was a bit pathetic but it's been progressively better since. Started in containers. This year I went inground and the plants grew massive! Always started seeds indoors then transplanted.

I've successfully grown it in Alberta! It does well up here in the summers. I grew it from starts I bought from the greenhouse, grew it in a container, and put it in a warm sunny spot. I didn't get much of a harvest, but that is on me. I put it in a container so it would be easy to move inside when we had colder nights, but I forgot one night and it was done. I always try to push the fall harvests back on my plants and I need to remember not to do that with lemongrass.

I did successfully start it from seed last year but it never made it to the garden. I got sick in late April/early May and all my plant starts died :( Turns out it's really hard to remember to water your plants when you have a high fever. I'm trying again this year (of course).

I love my lemon grass! I harvested one big bunch and separated. Saved a few for next spring and gave a ton away.
Left one big one in the ground to see if it would survive our winter.
I’m in SE TX so our low has only been 28 it’s still mostly green, excited about not having to pull it every fall.
It’s my favorite tea!
Blessings!

Here in Brazil it is very popular, called "Capim Limão", and is mainly consumed as a tea before bed or after meals. Here in the south of Brazil we also add it to Mate 🧉, it's very popular and smells great ❤🇧🇷

An established in-ground lemongrass plant will die back during frosts here in 9a, but rebound the next spring just fine. I would say it's tolerance is somewhere in the mid-to-upper 20s.

I've grown lemon grass from seed. Once it got warm enough outside I chucked it into my heavy soil in my garden and it did very well. I'm in western Oregon

Great video! I've never grown lemon grass before so I think I will give it a try now. Thanks for showing how you used it for tea...super helpful. Would love to see a future video showing how you use the stalks as well. Love your honey dispenser! Can you share where you got it?

You can oftentimes find stalks at Asian grocery stores with enough of the base intact that they will root in water. I usually go this route, rather than trying to keep a propagated stalk alive through the winter up north. Much cheaper than buying a nursery plant in the spring!
