1992 Audi S4 IMSA GTO 5-Cylinder 720HP Turbo Engine SOUND!!

During the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2017 I had the pleasure to film this gorgeous 1992 Audi Quattro S4 IMSA GTO. This beast is powered by a 2.2 liter inline-5 turbocharged engine which is able to produce more than 700 horsepower. The sound it makes is absolutely amazing, especially when it upshifts!

RIP Wesbank Modifieds. Nice to see and hear the old girl again after 25 years. Previous time was at Kyalami 1994. Hope Ben Morgenhood's Mazda MX6 3 rotor race car also survived. Awesome video.👍

it's not an IMSA car... it was built for the 1992 South African Wesbank Modified Saloon Championship, although I think it has the same engine used in the Audi IMSA GTO cars.

I was a snotkop when I watched this car at Killarney in the Wesbank series. After the race went with the old man to Killarney Hotel and the men imitated the sounds of this turbo over some Black Labels. Was different times back then. Good memories!

Yes IMSA influenced model and based on later model audi, but many cars like this one was built by the motor sports divisions from the respective car manufacturing plants within South Africa. This one was built in South Africa, as South Africa ran the same series or class of cars called the Wesbank Modifieds, built by Audi Motorsport South Africa. Hence the South African (A division of the Rothmans global company) Rothmans sponsor. South Africa car manufactures ( Audi South Africa, BMW, TOYOTA etc.) also built their own group B Rally cars. All these developments was born out of the sanctions againts South Africa due to the current politics at the time within the country, but man they became really creative with their builds.
