The reason why DogDay doesn't have his legs anymore is because CatNap ate his legs and have to use him as a puppet to chase us and EAT us. That's why we see the Smiling Critters enter his body. DogDay is on our side.

Imagine having your legs torn off, being tied against a wall for so long, and then proceeding to have a bunch of small things crawl around your skin. They squirm and squirm, and of course (What I assume happened after we left him) Having whats left of your insides being eaten out, leaving nothing but your skin lying there.

Now this is a good game

this entire scene was so disturbing, especially when the small critters crawled into dogday to take control of him. Gosh that trauma is gonna haunt me forever

Poor Dogday. He's literally the only remaining sane smiling criter & this is what he gets. Also, that scene... Jesus, that's disturbing

Interesting detail, Dogday Being Opposite To CatNap And Being The Last Survived For This Reason.

I feel so bad for dog day, he was tortured like that for so long, getting his legs cut off and everything, and even after all that, his characteristics shined through, the way he still called us angel even after suffering, I hope he's not entirely dead yet, like the small things just left him there instead of eating him, and we see him in chapter 4, which is gonna take a few more years 😅

Wait a second, does that mean there were more of the Smiling Critters like Catnap? I mean the taller ones, not the plushies. It kinda makes sense, since after they removed Catnap because he gave the little kids nightmares, he was left abandoned to die. But the Prototype saved him to use him as like his servant. So Catnap actually killed his friends to get his revenge for abandoned him just to rot. The taller Smiling Critters were actually good I think, I mean it explained their voices in the cardboard when they are talking, and they scream in the end. Explaining that they were getting killed.

So I've been going back and forth between this and the cardboard cutout audio of each of the Smiling Critters, who I believe were the Bigger Bodies version compared to the mini ones.
Notice how Dogday says "we" tried to fight the Prototype's control. My guess is that all of the BB Smiling Critters broke free from the Prototype's control and met a different fate. All of these are purely theoretical. If you have a different idea, feel free to share.

Bubba noted that he remembered. This maybe speculation but I think him as well as the other critters were in some type of trance that made them think they were the characters and not the humans they once were. He remembered who he once was as a human and when Catnap discovered this, tortured, and killed him, feeding him to the minis and possibly adding his corpse to the shrine.

DogDay: Once free from the Prototype's influence, probably attempted a mass escape with some of the children and minis. Catnap learned of this and took it as an act of blasphemy resulting in his fate. My thought is the only reason he left DogDay alive was to serve as an example.

KickinChicken: Probably tried to go along with Dogday's escape plan and when that horribly failed, he was killed and presumed eaten by Catnap and the critters, with his corpse added to the shrine

Hoppy Hopscotch and Bobbie Bearhug: This maybe the most interesting and highly tragic, but going back to how both of them commented about the moon in their respective dialogue. My guess is that both of them were close, possibly from when they were orphans and decided to commit double suicide by jumping off the roof of the facility. Hoppy was determined as she felt it was her only way of escape while Bobbie was nervous and afraid. Take back to Hoppy's dialogue where it sounded like she was trying to convince a second party to not be afraid and jump. It's also possible that they had some of the remaining children with them. At the last second, Bobbie couldn’t go through with it and watched Hoppy fall to her death. She deeply regretted it and simply allowed herself to die either by Catnap and the minis or simply starved to death. It's highly likely that Catnap and the minis ate at their remains and their bodies were added to the shrine.

CraftyCorn and PickyPiggy: These ones were highly disturbing as it insinuated that both of them completely succumbed to madness and found ways to cope to the point of manic obsession. PickyPiggy continued to eat and it's possible she ate her dead friends along with the minis but became greedy to where she tried to hog all the food, causing everyone to turn and eat her. CraftyCorn shut herself in her art and painted. When resources inevitability died out and she no longer had red paint, she killed anyone unfortunate enough to cross her path and was eventually killed in what would be retaliation. After her remains were eaten, her corpse was added to the shrine.

Random theory: its clear catnap tortured the smiling critters for not worshipping the prototype and i believe that catnap killed a bunch of the critters and fed them to pickypig or else he would starve since his cardboard cutout talks about him eating his friends and although the rest of the gang probably werent so reasonable as dogday i feel like its the kind of messed up thing catnap would do considering what happened to dogday

Ngl dogday was my fav character in the smiling critters, I thought that in the actuall game that he would juat chase us, but this? Wow, and they said he was the last of the smiling critters, I think they mean the big ones, not the plushies, I bet that the other smiling criters (big ones) Got eaten alive like Dogday by those small plushies, This chapter was awesome, Chapter 4 is gonna be insane❤️ Tysm Mob entertainment for this amazing chapter

I’m pretty sure the reason why all the smiling critters cutouts scream at the end is because it’s the noise they’re making while getting killed by catnap
