Some great examples of meteorwrongs are displayed and there is even a side-by-side test to see if you can ID them as a meteorite or meteorwrong. Did you know that some minerals in meteorites fluoresce under UV light? We look at an amazing example of Norton County (an Aubrite from Kansas) courtesy of Cameron Smith and Pat Brown. Does this Lunar meteorite have fusion crust?
We travel deep into the (new) garage of Topherspin Meteorites to cut a meteorite live! I cut the50 gram section off for classification purposes at Florida State University. Martin Lollar and I are sharing the classification on this two-piece puzzle that has been nicknamed “The Beast”. It only seems fitting that two people be named as mass holders on a two-piece puzzle meteorite.
I also make an announcement of a special event with a super special guest for next week’s hangout on 8-19-2020. You will definitely want to tune in next week for sure!! Remember, anyone can join us live. Here are some of the links from the live chat:
I am Topher Spinnato, owner of Topherspin Meteorites LLC. I am an internationally trusted meteorite importer, dealer, and curator. I am a proud member of the International Meteorite Collector's Association (IMCA #6236) and currently sit on the Board of Directors of the Meteorite Club.
