I feel bad for this older couple. Their whole life they have lived under a certain way of thinking and then having those beliefs challenged in their 70's is incomprehensible for them. Logically, Joey's points are clicking with them but their minds are fighting it since they've lived by other logic their whole life, that why they keep going blank with nothing to counter. They are probably very decent people but just have lived under, and sadly, contributed to a lie their whole life.
