They are tech capital because of the free trials from skillshare

You hit on the fact that Israelis have to do military service, but this is often misunderstood. It does not means you have to be a combat soldier. You can do other things like mechanics, logistics, security, cyber security or even offensive cyber stuff. The last two are a huge reason why Israel is a powerful force in the cyber security world.

Not having oil is kind of a blessing, it forced them to get creative and not rely on finite resources.

I would like to point out another reason for Israel's success in technology. From an early age, the government provides talented children the opportunity to study physics or computer science at the university and after graduation, they join the army and serve in technological positions. After they are released from the army, the large technology companies get them to work for them, and pay a lot of money, even to the beginners.

Point of order: the mandatory military service had been cut to 2y8m, and the army footage shown is of Russian forces, not Israeli.

I learned Hebrew language because, living in Quebec, French and English was not enough to get any job.
Then Japanese, then Chinese then, finally, I got a job in Bay Area.
Knowing these languages didn't help. C language, the Borland dialect, is what saved my life.

I went to Israel for an entrepreneurship course between my university in Canada and Technion University. From my experience, I was a witness to the ingenuity, resilience and hardworking ethic of Israeli startups. By learning a bit of their history, it isn't hard to see that such an attitude came out of necessity as their best resource and capital were their people and ideas. Its an amazing country with rich history, beautiful, welcoming people and a lot of energy.
