I Don’t like Crunches & Planks for Abs

There’s a reason why Crunches & Planks aren’t my first choice for building abs. The reason is simple: to effectively work your rectus abdominis, or what we think of as our 6 pack, we need to have good flexion in our spine, or rounding of your back.

Here is one of my favorit dynamic exercise: get a bosu-ball and do your crunch on that bosu-ball. Your back should lay on the ball and your hips should be in the air. Now bend your back and also go down with your hip. In other words stretch the abdominis. From this position do the crunch and lift your upper body and the hips up. More range of motion is not possible.

Thank you! I always question why planks are pushed as some sort of ab exercise. It’s just an isometric exercise. How does that build muscle? Just doesn’t make any sense to me. Never did. Completely baffling that people think they’re gonna do this and get abdominal muscles. Like a wall sit. I’m sure it has some benefits but you’re not going to build any real muscle doing that.

I don’t diet so I’m kinda not going to train abs cause belly’s get bigger without dieting I like my belly it allows me to eat and I live to eat
