Regional & International Emergency Communications by Throttle Up Prepper!
This week we take a look at emergency communications. In the past we have looked at local eComm in the form of CB or citizens band radio as well as Ham, or Amateur radio options on the VHF and UHF modes. Now we turn to HF, or high frequency emergency communications for disaster preparedness and disaster response.
This week the CDC is conducting a seminar on disaster response in the event of a nuclear detonation in the United States. They will discuss the response on a Federal, State and local level. There are many threats to our nation and its way of life. An EMP or electromagnetic pulse can take out our power grid...so can a CME or coronal mass ejection from the sun. An attack from hostile nation like North Korea, Russia or China is a very real possibility. In fact, there are seemingly no end to the source of the threats.
Jeff shows off his Yaesu FT2900R 2m radio he uses for local communications which he has shared before, but this time he introduces you to his new Yaesu 450 D HF rig.
Check out this video and find out why Ham radio / Amateur radio may be a good idea for your emergency communications planning.
