Introduction to Linear Equations in One Variable
The linear equations in one variable is an equation which is expressed in the form of ax+b = 0, where a and b are two integers and x is a variable and has only one solution. For example, 2x+3=8 is a linear equation having a single variable in it. Therefore, this equation has only one solution, which is x = 5/2. Whereas if we speak about linear variable in two variables, it has two number of solutions.

In This Chapter :
Introduction Linear Equations in One Variable,
Linear Equations,
Simple equations or Linear equations in one variable,
Solving Simple equation having the variable on one side,
Solving equation that has variables on both the sides,
Reducing Equations to Simpler Form - Equations Reducible to Linear Form,
Important Notes :
1. If the degree of an equation is one then it is called a linear equation.
2. If a linear equation has only one variable then it is called a linear equation in one variable or simple equation.
3. The value which when substituted for the variable in the given equation makes L.H.S. = R.H.S. is called a solution or root of the given equation.
4. Just as numbers, variables can also be transposed from one side of the equation to the other side.
