I have been a metalhead for decades. Really got into grunge as well. I had seen the name Nightwish over the years but had never listened to them for some reason. I remember a few goth kids in my last years of school got into them in the late 90´s. After discovering Nightwish early this year, I can say without doubt, Nightwish is the most rewarding rabbit hole in music that I have ever come across. They have so many sounds and styles. Super interesting musical compositions and lyrics that touch my soul. Floor Jansen as lead vocalist is so incredible in her performance. The beauty, power and her ability to evoke emotion in her performances is simply unparalleled. Pure magic. Enjoy the journey!

The reason why everyone recommends "Ghost Love Score" as a first song is because its an epic song with great vocals but not as hard as other songs, which are usually a bit harder to digest for a "non-metal" audience.

Next for Megan: Ever for Logan Song of Myself! Both from the same concert!

Glad to see you back on Nightwish. Knew you'd like this better than Ghost Love Score. Showtime, Storytime is the name of the live album/DVD they made from this concert. Think you’ll both like Ever Dream from this show too. Logan, you should give Yours is an Empty Hope from Wembley a listen, it goes hard. Lets see em both. Meghan, don’t apologize for preferring songs with deeper lyrical meaning. It’s a good thing. Hope to see you continue your Nightwish journey.

The amazing thing about Nightwish. You get the same energy and show regardless if in a crowd of 82000 or 800.
This is music you feel not just listen to.

"I don't know what everybody recommends Ghost Love Score"
Because it's for introducing Nightwish to the people, most of the times it's the best song for that, other times it's not. My favorite NW song is the one i'm listening

"Ghost Love Score" was recommended because it's a killer song and keenly shows off Floor's vocal dynamics.

Haha..Pantera is one of Floor's favorite bands as it is for her husband Hannes (drummer of Sabaton)! They met while both on tour in the US (Floor with her previous band After Forever and Hannes with Sabaton), Hannes in his dressingroom listening to Pantera and drinking a whisky and Floor coming in asking him if he would like to share a cigar!!!! Thát for Hannes was it...an opera singer, loving whisky ánd cigars...she will be my wife!😍😂 Do you perhaps like something with a Celtic vibe and not so opera-ish..check out "I Want My Tears Back" Live Buenos Aires 2019(2018). Floor dancing all over the stage and an amazing crowd! A very happy song haha. Another somewhat heavier song "Song of Myself" same Wacken 2013 concert.🤘

On the studio version of Imaginaerum, the “operatic” part near the end of Storytime was performed by a choir! Floor: hold my beer…

The greatest thing about Nightwish (aside from Floor obviously) is that their music and songs are so diverse that they have a little something for everybody. Besides let call a spade a spade, most of us Americans are not cultured enough to truly grasp the beauty and majesty of some songs like Ghost Love Score. Of course this is what happens when we become full of ourselves and forget that there is actually a world outside our little bubble.

I think you guys would love “Song of Myself” and “Ghost River”. You should check those out. Great reaction! 🤘🏻

If you want Floor in a Musical check out Floor together with Henk Port and Phantom of the Opera or Dangerous from Jekyll and Hyde

Speaking of musicals, she performed Phantom of the Opera on the Beste Zangers you mentioned. Your jaw will hit the floor, no pun intended.

I agree with others;
next Everdream for her
Or Song of Myself for him
Both are excellent :)

I would recommend 'Shoemaker" from their latest album, for a different style of sound. It shows the diversity of the band and Floor's Magic voice.

Floor is on the Dutch TV show Beste Zangers where she does a Duet with Henk Poort from Phantom of the Opera. Check it out.

Ghost Love Score is basically the gateway drug. It has a little bit of almost everything, just several small nibbles of what Nightwish is capable of. They are a Metal band, but they love ALL KINDS of music. They do Folk music. They do Celtic stuff, they do stuff from almost all over Europe. The only thing I can think of that they have not done is rap. Considering that Floor is not only classically trained in vocals (she can be sort-of operatic), AND she can do the metal growl, it would not surprise me if she found out that she can rap, too. She's MADE of music.

Nightwish have completely re-imagined songs, not really doing what we normally think as covers; Tuomas re-arranged Phantom of the Opera and the original vocalist, Tarja, sang it along with the Bassist, Marko (the tall blonde viking with the split beard) and he has vocals for days!

Nightwish also did a Metal re-imagining of Pink Floyd's song High Hopes for the same concert; Marko sang that while Tarja was backstage changing clothes. :)
