Folks asking about specs or where to buy, look close to home. It's just a weight on a pole. I happened upon a similar activity years ago just by playing around with a sledgehammer.

Let’s not use ‘Squat Universities’ content and not give him credit..

This is an ancient Indian excercise equipment. There are athletes in the desi akharas who train with this equipment. I always wondered how a person smaller than my frame, and much lighter than me, has a better grip stregth. I was a state level bodybuilding champion and used to deadlift 220kgs. The desi akahara bodybuilders trained with wooden clubs not weighting more than 12 to 15kgs and yet had stronger grip strength than I did. Also, these equipment cause much less injury to the joints compared to the standard weight training in the gyms and hence is a more natural way to train the human body.

They have a set of these at my gym and I’ve always been so intimidated to use them. I’m 42 and have had lingering shoulder problems since I was a teenager that have only gotten worse over time. The only thing that’s helped is a steady routine of pulling exercises, that is until recently when I started incorporating a warm up routine of rotator cuff exercises prior to any upper body workout and THAT had made a huge difference. The positive impact of the rotator cuff exercises has me thinking that a steel mace routine would also go along away towards correcting muscle imbalances and hopefully would strengthen my shoulder joints without causing pain the way pressing exercises do.

I do tree work and recently found a giant Pieve of wood that’s perfect for my hand size but the other end is way bigger more blunted. It’s about 6-7ft long and I tote it around like how this video shows me. I also swing it around like a sword while controlling it. I also use it to make my running more explosive by:
I go in something called “down position” you basically kneel forward like a football player before they say HUT. and while you’re in that position you basically take a super deep breathe and take off to running position while you grab the piece of wood as fast as you can. And sprint with the wood as fast as you can.

Started doing these three years ago. And then stopped for a few months and started again. Massive decreases in stability and shoulder mobility when I stoped

I swing heavy maces and clubs as my main training Modalities. I have a custom made 75lb club that I can flow with. Heavy Clubs and heavy loaded carries are the foundation of my training. This video doesn't begin to address all of the benefits of heavy clubs and maces. Especially if you flow with them.
