My biggest money saving tip is to leave my husband at home!! 😂 I am a list girl and he gets all kinds of ideas at the store and starts putting random things in the cart. We are here for milk, TP, fresh fruits, and cheese only!

A list that needs to be made is what products would cost less if you bought the base ingredients and made it at home. One can find recipes for most processed foods/condiments ect. online.

Funny enough, my husband and I were just talking about how our refrigerator always looks pretty bare since we started stocking up on food. All that's really in there is milk, cheese, eggs (we sometimes buy eggs from a farmer friend that go on the counter instead) and leftovers. It looks so big and empty but we have more food than ever. 😂

I love how you touched on how we just got used to too much and too many options. I know I have changed my mindset and now look at food as the precious necessity it is and being so thankful for it down to the very last bite.

Great tips! I work in grocery stores doing resets. I try to keep an eye on things marked down. I have learned to keep a list of things I need on my phone. I really should keep a list of things to stock up on so when on sell to buy. Not only are prices going on but the siz or amount your getting is less. It is crazy.

I was at Sam's Club. I wanted to buy honey. A 2 bottle honey was unit priced at quarts and the single bottle was unit priced at gallons. So the 2 bottle honey was the better deal. Same at Wal-Mart. Baking soda was cheaper buying the regular size boxes over the bigger box. Kinda sneaky. Glad I know my prices and pay attention.

We have a small, college size, refrigerator. Sometimes it's challenging to have enough room. Condiments were the first thing I realized took up most of the refrigerator space. But now we throw away very little from the fridge because it's so visible. Good subject!

I love your tips! We eat simple. I totally agree about keeping your refrigerator pretty bare. Any leftovers I have either gets frozen or eaten a day or two later. No throwing leftovers away because they got shoved behind something in the refrigerator and forgotten.

I can’t wait for warmer weather so we can feed ourselves out of the garden. Canned foods are great but I miss fresh vegetables.

Marked down and coupons is the way I shop. Growing your own food helps a lot.

Great tips 👍. My mom was raised in the depression & I learned how to be “ prepared “ from her🥰. 👵🏻👩‍🌾❣️

Love this!! My parents just bought a whole beef and I had them get the tallow fat and the bones for me (plus they got the organs). Can’t wait to put them to use!

FYI: Cheese can be frozen. Shredded cheese is best as it can be used right away. When needed just transfer it from the freezer straight to the fridge. Do not thaw it on the counter.

Support your local small farmers! Hands down the best way to get exactly what you need and have more control over what you get!

My brother says pick a genre of food for a while so you can affordably buy the associated seasoning and condiments. For example Mediterranean for a month, Mexican for a month. Or pick 2.

Started our garden 6 years ago. Best investment. Great tips.

@6:15 Simplifying your diet doesn't necessarily mean losing variety. I often cook "too much" meat for a meal on purpose, so I'll have intentional leftovers that I can make into completely different dishes so it doesn't seem like we're eating the same thing again.

And yes, grow as much of your own food as possible & learn how to properly store or preserve it. I rarely have to hit the produce section at the store because I squirreled away my last year's harvest. You don't need to be a homesteader or have acreage to do this either. It's surprising how much food you can grow in a small space, or in pots & containers on a deck.
