Nancy is continuing the Great Basics quilt with this tutorial to work on the borders. Catch the other episodes Nancy did for this series on the OnPoint-TV YouTube channel.
The quilt has cornerstones and side borders. The top is complete with the nine patch blocks, setting squares, setting triangles and corner triangles. The stripes on the setting triangles and corner triangles bump up the uniqueness of the quilt.
Nancy spray sizes the quilt with Mary Ellen's Best Press and presses it flat and as square as possible. Then she goes to the next step of adding the borders.
This quilt has cornerstones so Nancy doesn't have to put one border on at a time. It makes it a little easier.

Join Nancy next time as she does the backing, the batting and the basting of the quilt.

I am so thrilled to have found your videos. I've been a quilter for many years, taking a break here and there. Your videos will take my quilting experience to the next level. I was looking for instructions for setting squares, triangles, and corners for a quilt I'm currently working on. I started on Great Basics 5. After I finish I will review your videos from the start. Thank you Janet from Murrieta Ca.

I am pretty much “self taught”.. if you want to call it that...by YouTube and any other videos I can find. I never waste my time when I watch your videos. Thank you for caring about the quilting community and know you have so much to offer. Thank you!

Hi from greater Nashville area. Driven to finish quilt pieces left from my Great Grandmother. Threaded her needle when I was a child. Have made four quilts on my Singer but gave myself a Brother machine for retirement. Plenty of time to practice.

This lesson was just what I needed today. Thanks.

Thank you!! I think you are the only one to describe and show to ease the borders. I’m not sure you explained why. I guess I’ll go watch again. I was told it was important. When long arm quilter refused to do quilts that were not eased to the same dimension. She said she could not do quality work otherwise.

Thank you so much for doing a detailed step by step video. Other 10 minute videos on you tube leave you confused, and they say do the quilt any way you want. I like that you teach us to quilt with the traditional methods that really work, not make up as you go along. Great Video!!!

Oh, how I wish this video was around when I started quilting. Could have saved a lot of frustration, seam ripping 😮 and learning the hard way. I like nest and precise sewing and really enjoy your teaching style. Planning to binge watch every video in this series! --With appreciation from Las Vegas.

I was so happy to see someone else stitching over pins by just slowing down. I have done that for years and thought I was the only one.

As an ever learning individual, your explanation and technique has been a God send! This technique will alleviate the "wavy" edges. Preparation is key and this technique is the best I've seen! Thank you so very much! I've repurposes my walking weights to help me with holding fabric and/or rulers.

Just in time. Will soon be sewing in the triangles on a queen size on point quilt, and then on to the borders. People like you are so generous with your knowledge to "lone" newbies like me. Thank you.

I am so pleased with this tutorial. I am making a Cinderella panel by Thomas Kincaid. I like to make them as hanging quilts. I am self taught through YouTube tutorials. This tutorial helped me so much with putting the corner stones in the border. Now I am eager to go back and look at all of your tutorials. Thank you and yes you are a wonderful teacher! I'm so glad I found you when I did. I've power watched many of your videos and refer back to some when needed. I'm from Baton Rouge, Louisiana and no one in my family has quilted since my great grandmother that past away when I was a child. So everything I'm learning is from the ladies and gentlemen of YouTube. I'm working on my very first quilt and having to break it down into quilting the center first then adding the borders. I'm using my domestic Brother and the quilt will end up being a queen. Thank you very much for doing the videos. They are so helpful. 😊
