Nail Drill Bits Explained for Beginners

Nail Drill Bits Explained-In this video I explain the different kind of nail drill bits for beginners.

When you are just starting use an electric file it can be quite confusing as to which bits you need because there are so many to chose from. My suggestion for the beginner is to start off with the sanding bands. They are inexpensive and you get a lot, which will allow you to practice your filing technique a lot. With the sanding bands you have to throw them away after every use when are doing nail services on the public.

After you are comfortable with your e-file (nail drill) you will eventually want to upgrade your drill bit to a more professional quality. In this video I tell you what options are available.

My suggestion to beginners is to build your bit collection over time. It isn't necessary to have every nail bit that's out there. In my opinion too many bits just prolongs the nail service and complicates it as. The less bits you have the better.

And as I continue to say if you take the time to perfect your acrylic application you will not need to do much filing at all. This is ultimately the goal you want to achieve.

To get the most out of this video watch this video nail bits explained for beginners in it's entirety. Thanks.

The diamond bits (the bits referred to as cheap) are great prep bits. They are great for removing cuticle on the nail bed and closing off hang nails. Also they can exfoliate rough skin around the nail plate and make it smooth. I never cared for them before until I found use for them, now I use them with every set.

Hiya Rita! The stem that you show first is to be kept in your hand piece during storage. It will protect the chuck if the hand piece is dropped. The diamond bits are safe for natural nails. The small football shape is great for removing remaining pterygium after pushing cuticles. I purchased a wire brush that looks like a pen, the wires can be retracted when not being used, from Atwood Industries. I love it, it cleans the bits and they work like new again. I also soak them in acetone or brush remover to keep them debris free. I haven't purchased any ceramic bits yet, thanks for giving some info on them. Bits can be a big investment, it's important to know which will work and not just sit in a drawer. Thank you for sharing! I always look forward to your videos :-)

U are extremely pleasant to listen to, u seem positive and knowledgeable, however, I am watching to understand what each bit does and I TOTALLY understand wanting to do the job right, and doing so with the tools u use to do so. Unfortunately when you said "These are the cheap bits that came with the drill!" I know you are displeased with those cheap ones, but as a beginner, having just purchased the machine those "cheap ones" are all I have and I want to know how to use them and what they're used for. But, thanks, I'm gonna scroll to see if you have anything that will help me, cause like I said, so far I enjoyed watching your videos! Have a blessed day! 😎

I don't even do nails and *rarely* wear acrylics, but this was interesting to learn why nail techs/manicurists use these tools. Cool video. 👌🏿

This is a very educational video! I did not know the bits had size numbers: 332. Good to know. I will say I saw someone state that nails are different ie, some people have softer nails and some people hard nails, so perhaps those bits you don't use, might be useful for the soft nailed people. Again, thanks for this information!

Thanks a lot!! You helped me greatly’. I don’t have enough money to go get my nails done so I bought a bunch of stuff I did go to hair school so I have a little bit of experience and I just got some new bets and wasn’t sure which what do you so I’m glad I had your video. Also I’d like to add that I actually sat from start to finish to your video because you weren’t talking about everything but what the videos about I can’t stand when videos do that so thank you very much
