This is called a Russian manicure (when you remove the cuticle AND proximal fold aka what most ppl think the cuticle is. It was the “skin” she cut, but it’s not painful! I’ve done it myself at home for my own gel nails and it should not hurt!)

I dont have this issue with my cuticles and i only push them back everytime i change my colour...they are hardly noticeable...why do some people have so much that it needs to be cut off?? BTW...im over 50.

What you are cutting is the proximal nail fold. The cuticle is another thing. Nail anatomy 101.
