I saw a tip from an expert who said keep washing your hair as much as you always have because the hair that sheds when you wash it is NOT from washing. The hair is just sitting there already out of your scalp but hasnt been washed away .When you wash it it just slides out.Similar to brushing your hair when its dry, hair will shed but it's already fallen from the scalp but just sitting there kept in place by the hair that surrounds it.Hope that makes sense.Iron is really important.Anaemia and auto immune conditions like thyroid issues cause hairloss too.

Thanks for your honesty and vulnerability, Sarah. I’m losing my hair due to androgenetic alopecia and have spent so much time crying about it, researching treatments, and generally spiraling. You are lovely, and you are not alone. Thanks for helping me feel less alone.

I cannot stress enough: It's actually SUPER-important that you keep your scalp clean by washing more frequently, NOT less. Accumulated sebum on the scalp oxidizes and creates free fatty acids that irritate the scalp. Plus the excess sebum drives hyperproliferation of the malessezia yeast that we all have living on our scalp. The trifecta of oxidized sebum, free fatty acids, and excess yeast leads to dandruff, which is very much linked to too much oil, in other words, it's NOT a dry scalp condition.

Seborrheic dermatitis - when it appears on the scalp - is called dandruff, but can and often does occur on the face, upper chest, upper back, and ears. It's an inflammatory condition and the last thing you want is inflammation because healthy hair growth cannot exist when the scalp is in an inflammatory state. Not keeping your scalp clean, especially if you use a lot of hairstyling products is like going to bed with makeup on. Don't do it. NO ONE would think about washing their face 1-2x/week, but somehow people have been brainwashed into thinking that infrequent washing is better for the hair, while it's actually more challenging to clean the scalp because of all the hair that obscures the scalp. No one would think that accumulating all that dirt, oil, sweat, and makeup on the face is a good thing, but somehow that's OK for our scalp?

Good for you for going to the doctor to get bloodwork done, and make sure they look at ferritin levels which is critical to hair growth, but is often overlooked.

PLEASE for your hair's sake. Wash more frequently, not less. Sweet spot for most hair types to maintain a healthy scalp is 5-6x/week. Concentrate shampoo on the scalp and really wash it thoroughly. As it rinses through your strands, that's enough to clean the strands. Conditioner is applied ears-down, i.e., the ponytail.

I wash daily myself, air dry 99% of the time and don't process my hair.

If you want to know more about a study that looked at wash frequency and it's impact on scalp and hair conditions, look on PubMed Central, the authors were Supriya Punyani, Antonella Tosti, et al.

Going off what someone commented…. Please see a dietitian not a nutritionist. Anyone can say they are a nutritionist but dietitians have to be certified and most have specialized degrees and training.
I am also going through this hair loss. But I am going through the worst year of my life so the stress has to be doing it. Hugs back at ya!!!

I grew mine back over the last 8 months! Wild yam cream to increase progesterone, zinc, collagen. And make rosemary hair spray, rosemary essential oil and water spray especially on the area that u are lossing hair. I talk about it on my YouTube. Big hug🤗 its a hormone issue so often low progesterone. DHEA issue and stress can be the root cause.

Careful cause if it is caused by stress, this could only make it worse. I know you can't really control how you feel about it but it is kind of a rabbit hole

Had this after one of the strong COVID hits and was desperate. Also knew nothing can help fast, but what did help to slow it down a bit and then stop was looking at my diet! I didn’t eat enough proteins and they are basics for hair and nails. And on top of daily needs covid aftermath took extra I guess, so what I ate wasn’t enough. So started to pay attention to eating daily minimum and extra if I managed and really within one month I saw the difference!🙏🙏🙏 maybe this helps!
I’m with you! It’s really painful to have this being a girl🙏

I lost a shit ton of hair in 2020. Saw a dermatologist and tried everything under the sun including nutrafol for a year. The only things that worked for me were nettle leaf supplements (natural, cheap and more effective than nutrafol), spironolactone and topical minoxidil for spot treatments. Love nizoral too

Vegamour Gro Serum has been a game changer for me!! It’s a hair serum that you use once a day. It doesn’t make your hair greasy or look dirty, but I apply it at night. I never have to wash in the A.M. if it isn’t a typical wash day for me. I have a handful of chronic illnesses and they were wreaking havoc on my hair! I started noticing a difference after 2 months. I’ve been using it for just over a year now, and I don’t have to use it every day now, I’m able to go every other, or every third to maintain. My hair hasn’t been this thick and beautiful in years. Oh, and bonus, I put it on my eyebrows and they are nice and full as well. Hope it helps!! 😊

Check your diet, girl! See a nutritionist as you may be missing crucial vitamins and nutrients that contribute to hair growth! Remember, what we eat is the building blocks for new skin and hair our body makes! Sending love as I know it must be so stressful! Good luck ❤

Cassandra Bankson here on youtube has also been dealing with hair loss and she has several videos on what can cause it, what can be done about it, documenting what she's doing, etc. i think it might be helpful to look at them! if i remember correctly, one of the things she uses is an LED helmet. I hope you can find something that is helpful to you!

Please don't get discouraged. Fixing hair loss/thinning is not an overnight thing. Just make sure you find the root cause, and listen to solutions given by your dermatologist and the people who went through this before. I know it can be frustrating, but in the meantime, try to do things that make you feel less bad about yourself. Be kind to yourself and don't hyperfixate on it. It will grow back ❤

I've commented this before, but it looks like Telogen Effluvium which I've had earlier this year, mine was caused by a series of infections. My dermatologist recommended boosting my iron levels and basically waiting it out. Wasn't nice but I've now got a bunch of baby hairs coming through so I think it's improving. Well done on going to the doctor and fingers crossed you get some answers soon. Stay strong! ❤

The amount of days you don’t wash your hair is the amount of hair you will lose except it will be in the hundreds. Ex: if I don’t wash my hair for 4 days the next time I wash my hair I will lose 400 strands of hair. And if you have hair loss the most recommended thing is to wash EVERYDAY. Trust me

Here’s what helps me: washing hair just as often as needed (when it starts getting oily, which for me means 6 days a week). I don’t use dry shampoo either, because like you said, it can cause buildup. I love using the Mielle rosemary oil twice a week (before double shampoo/clarifying washes and for no more than four hours). I have also just started using The Ordinary’s peptide serum for hair density, but I haven’t been on it long enough to see how well it works, I’ll return to update. Other than that, everything else I mentioned has lead my hair to become crazy voluminous and I loose significantly less hair than I did a year ago before I started using the Mielle Rosemary oil specifically. I only have to take the hair out of my hair brush (used daily) once a week and it’s like half the size of the wad you showed… but before that I shed about the same every day, so I was in the same boat, too. Keep in mind though, I’m on the pill, that could be a factor for my hair growth. Nizoral and Nutrafol are fantastic and will do wonders, so you’re already on track, and of course, patience is the biggest factor, unfortunately :/

I have the same problem with hair thinning on the top of my scalp. Have been doing different tests and I found out it's due to hormonal imbalance. I recommend to have your hormones and testosterone tested, if there's a anything out of balance. Our health comes from within, hope you'll find a way to treat this ❤

I'm going thru this too! thanks for sharing what you shed, I feel less alone. Get an HTMA test so you can test your mineral and metals levels, blood tests don't tell enough. Test your shower water hardness. Use natural hair oils & do daily scalp massages. Drink horsetail & Nettle tea. Most importantly, remember hair grows back and that you are and will always be a hot ass chick regardless of your hair 👊🏻
