You missed THIS in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. The famous poncho that Clint Eastwood’s character, the man with no name, wears in all three of the Dollars trilogy movies has a surprising and slightly disgusting secret. Not only was the poncho, which Clint Eastwood bought himself the same exact one in each film, but he also insisted that it never be washed, even between movies, so that it would maintain it’s dusty, rugged look.

It’s a protective garb that would be worn for days on end in all kinds of weather, it’d be weird if it were perfectly clean

That's not even gross. Whens the last time you deep cleaned your car seat?

The actor wanted it historically accurate, what’s wrong with that? Small detail but still cool

That's more like a trivia than something we would actually missed watching the movie.

He literally asked the character not be named. Went and bought the hat, poncho and cheap cigars and self made the character.
Good vision.

It's a poncho, you wear it over your clothes and not to tight around the neck, so it hardly gets any sweat, at best it's just dusty.

The poncho he takes that's next to a confederate soldier he watched die after covering him with his own jacket. Gave the kid two drags of his cigar before the kid passed away, this is before the epic stand off between the good, the bad & the ugly.

Probably the best trilogy, ever.

That's not disgusting, that's realistically cool.

Eastwood's a chad, and the dollar trilogy is so amazing

He's mentioned in interviews that he had to take wardrobe home with him every night to make sure nothing was taken or misplaced (the budget was that low, apparently). He was probably afraid if he sent it out to be washed it would never be returned.

Disgusting secret? really

I haven't washed my winter jacket in over 6 years but I only wear it when it's snowing or below freezing temps. It doesn't make it gross when it doesn't even smell, it's only job is to protect my ass from the cold. People are very weird with everything being clean all the time. Dust isn't going to murder you

Lmao, try Shia Labeouf not showering for two weeks to immerse himself in his WWII role as a tank operator. Brad Pitt and other cast members were dying.

This is exactly what we are missing in actors today

Loved that movie, Tuco, tells Cint in the desert scene, after the dying soldier in the coach tells clint where gold is buried in the cemetery, "oh please blondy, don't die, i love you, we are brothers!" Classic. 🤣🖐🇦🇺

He still has that poncho and has worn it in recent times for an event where he lives.

These are my three favorite movies by clint Eastwood and Lee van cleef. And if he didn't wash it, good for him, he knew what looking the part meant for fans. Knowing this is not bad but makes me appreciate his dedication to the character.

It’s a very modern obsession with clothing being perfectly clean. Clothing that gets fresh air will remain largely clean due to ozone. Of course if you get something biologically active on it it needs cleaning but otherwise it really doesn’t matter.

No shit. Cowboys don't wash clothes we just change them when they hit town once a year. Clint is accurate
