The first joke is my favourite. The amount of times I've head someone say "I'm Irish" in an american accent when they clearly mean "I have some Irish ancestry" is amazing. My grandad was Irish (born in Ireland to two Irish parents), my mother half Irish and I live a short ferry journey away from Ireland but as I was born in Britain to at least one British parent, I'm British whether I like it or not.

I don't know why "I'm Irish" - "false" cracked me up so much.
Probably because I've once had an US guy explain to me, that he's a 16th German.
What does that even mean? Is your big toe German?

As someone who does immigration research and reform advocacy I’m living for how accurate this is if only in the spiritual not factual sense of interviews. Also US customs really are an experience ever time I always get nervous going through them with how aggressive the officers can get. I can still remember when I came back to the US from SE Asia from my undergraduate research I had a horrible time convincing the officer that I been doing what I said I had even though all my visas were researcher ones I ended up having to pull out my letters from national/provincial governments and my university attesting that I was there on approved work.
