So many great games have released for both of the Playstation 2 and GC but choosing between the two consoles might be a tough decision for those looking to get in to retro consoles. Here are a few advantages and disadvantages to both systems to consider when choosing.

Really cool idea for a video! I myself owned the Gamecube growing up and got a PS2 much later. Both were great consoles and represent a much simpler time in life and it definitely was a great time to be a gamer!

I had both consoles but still prefer the PlayStation 2 because of the high selection of role-playing games. GC was foremost a multi-player console.

My god, I swear this was one of the greatest gaming generations ever. The systems were awesome and there were so many games coming out.

Well... hmmm... I owned both at different times, abd both were fun. The PS2 was owned first and my library slowly filled great titles from the Armored Core series, Grand Theft Auto series, Metal Gear Solid 2, Capcom vs SNK, Kingdom Hearts, and Final Fantasy X. I owned the Gamecube in 2005 and was able to experience titles from the Metroid Prime series, Wind Waker, Resident Evil 4, F-Zero GX, and Smash Melee. Both systems had some great titles like the often overlooked Timesplitter series, Need For Speed Underground 2, while my friends got to enjoy their Maddens and NBA Lives. They are both genuinely great consoles. The PS2 had a vast array of genres and titles while the Gamecube, underpowered as it was, still held quality first and third party games that you could not find anywhere else. I've always been a Nintendo fanboy since the original NES, even defending the N64 vs Playstation, but the PS2 was one of the greatest consoles ever released.

I bought gamecube launch day with high expectations after playing rogue squadron 2 demo at walmart several times. 2 months later I got a PS2 and it's so much better with tons of great games for everyone. I still play my 19 year old PS2 pretty often. Fixing to play half-life some more.

If nintendo wouldn't have been so unnecessarily stubborn and used a regular DVD like everyone else this system would have had a chance

But third-party Developers weren't willing to compromise the size of their games when they didn't have to. And I don't blame them

Gamecube is worth owning for Metroid Prime alone, but as a lot of those who commented said: Ps2's library, Backwards compatibility and a built in DvD player at a time when they weren't cheap, made it the superior console. Having said that, Gamecube is an awesome console.

Thanks for another entertaining video

Gamecube for me every day any day. I loved the ps2. But I had friends come over or I'd go see them and the endless hours of multi player with Mario strikers, smash, custom robo, time splitters 2 (yes i know on ps2 too but 4 players with no adapter), Rouge squadron and had plenty of single player experiences too.

As someone who owned both consoles growing up; there’s absolutely no contest here. The PlayStation 2 is by far the better system. Not only did it have the better exclusives, but the third party support was far superior. The fact that the Gamecube never got games like Grand Theft Auto was a huge blow against it.

The Gamecube did have a lot of great games, but many of the entries for their main franchises like Zelda and Mario were inferior to the games they got on the N64. I remember thinking the Gamecube was disappointing when I had it and ended up barely using it once I got my PS2.

Gamecube is a unique and great console and I love it for the 1st party games. The PS2 selection of games and variations of games is the clear winner. Just seemed like PS2 was made for older gamers with its many selection of Mature games.

I love the game cube because although its library small, it did have some great games Library was so huge that it had 10 times more great games than Nintendo. In the end the variety on PS2 allowed it to make it the better console for many and also that it was a DVD player was bonus. Sony has always released great consoles where Nintendo seems to be a hit and miss every other generation.

If you ask me this gen was Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo and even the late Sega at their best!
I personally prefer the GameCube the most it had the best couch co op games it had Mario Kart Double Dash, F-Zero GX, Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2, Kirby Air Ride, The Legend of Zelda Four Swords Adventures, Billy Hatcher, the best version of Soulcalibur 2 which was honestly the best 3D fighter of that whole gen and the GOAT Super Smash Bros. Melee just to name a few.

I think the PS2/GameCube generation was the last time Japanese games were dominant. I've always liked Japanese games best, maybe because I grew up with them in the 8bit and 16bit era. Also, there were a lot of experimental games on PS2, which is something now considered to be a risky move.
As much as I was glad Nintendo made a comeback with the GC, I still cherish my PS2. I just wish I played it more, but I couldn't because 2 years after its launch, I went to the university and focused on my studies. My brother had a blast because he had it all for himself.

Never had a Gamecube although I do like it's controller and GB Player option. PS2 had an exponentially larger library!

Both the gamecube and the ps2 systems were special in there own rights it was interesting how they made the game cubes disk about half the size of the ps2 version🤔

I was waiting for this video today! :) I definitely agree with those comments. I had both when I was growing up and I preferred the PS2 more mainly for it's bigger library of games and JRPG's while Gamecube mostly had the first party stuff like it always has for years. It was a good console and the games looked good on it but it was no where near as great as the PS2.
