Tavronitis Beach

Tavronitis Plajı, Girit Adası Hanya'nın 20 km batısında, Tavronitis köyünün 1 km kuzeyinde ve Girit Savaşı alanı olan tarihi Maleme havaalanının batı tarafında yer almaktadır. Adını bölgede akan Tavronitis adlı eş sesli nehirden almıştır. Köyün önündeki uzun kumsal, Kolimbari'den Stalos'a kadar uzanan uçsuz bucaksız kumsalın aslında küçük bir parçası olan güzel bir çakıllı kumsaldır. Bu, özellikle rüzgarsız günlerde yüzmek için idealdir, çünkü Girit'in kuzey kıyısındaki dalgalar yaygın bir sorundur. Plajın yakınında birçok otel, taverna ve restoran bulunurken, hemen hemen her türlü turistik tesisi bulabilirsiniz.
Tavronitis Beach is located 20 km west of Chania on the island of Crete, 1 km north of Tavronitis village and on the west side of the historic airport of Maleme, the site of the Cretan War. It got its name from the homonymous river called Tavronitis that flows in the region. The long beach in front of the village is a beautiful pebbly beach, which is actually a small part of the endless beach stretching from Kolimbari to Stalos. This is ideal for swimming, especially on windless days, as waves are a common problem on Crete's north coast. While there are many hotels, taverns and restaurants near the beach, you can find almost all kinds of tourist facilities.
