I got a PCP referral from a Neurologist for an MRI. I have weird cognitive processing disabilities that includes what showed up on a test as Delayed Language Recall A.E. 6. meaning Age Equivalent 6 years and 0 months when I was 39 years old in 2009. The neurologist at first said she wouldn't give me a referral for a brain scan/MRI and wouldn't be able to test me for autism spectrum. More than a week after she told me the brain scan/MRI would be a waste of time I received a phone call to set up an appointment for an MRI. And she refused to write a report about the simple verbal recall test she did while we talked in her office that day. Still. No report. This BRAIN SPECT SCAN is quite different from an MRI? I can't afford a co-pay for an MRI at this point in my life and she sort of convinced me it wouldn't give me any important info anyhow. How different is this SPECT SCAN from an MRI and do you think an MRI might be useful enough providing info that it's worth my time energy and attention trying to find out if there's a copay and if I can dispute the insurance company's decision NOT to cover whole MRI if that's the case?
