The Senate Committee on Transportation is reconsidering the requirement of vehicle safety checks.

Safety inspections insure our safety on the roads. I’m for annual inspections based on the age of the vehicle. Newer models can be inspected every 3-5 years. Older vehicles should be annually. Having a faulty vehicle on our roads is dangerous and can have fatal consequences.

Safety inspections doesn’t matter, cops will give you a ticket anyways if they find something wrong with your vehicle after the inspection.

i know its touchy but sometimes it's necessary, I have seen so many cars on the mainland like California for example where some cars have bald tires, no working lights and even missing front and/or rear bumper. but for sure should increase to maybe every 2 years, then perhaps annual when the car >10 years old or something?

They should do that driver's Ed test when renewing license. Too many drivers don't know the rules. Driving too slow on fast lane, not yielding, not giving the right of way, etc.

i think it is needed, but maybe *every 2 years instead* . the MOST COMMON failed item I see on vehicles are that both the left and right rear brake lights are NOT working=== just the 3rd brake light is ok. Now is it a electrical problem or simply both bulbs died same time/almost same time/over few weeks, etc.

Lol no need. I road in a vehicle that the safety check sticker says 06.20 on their rear bumper 🤭🤫

Just look at all the COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLES including buses and big trucks with burnt out headlihghts and you can see that inspections are not happening and neither is enforcement. Commercial Motor vehicles are supposed to be Thoroughly Inspected Every Day by the CDL drivers and if the State can't keep the commercial vehicles running without d3efects then the whole program is just a money grubbing scam.

The Safety check makes people do basic stuff like not having bolo head tyres, working blinks and lights and working breaks and helps makes sure we all pay registration fees and carry insurance.

Raise the fee too. Jiffy lube does safety checks good and you can do an oil change in the same time and extend the life and efficiency of your engine.
