Here are mine and Bond's top 5 reasons why Seiko is awesome and why we love Seiko watches. Most of the watch collectors have (or have had) at least one Seiko watch in their collection.
Seiko has been around since 1881 and has a lot of iconic watches over the past decades. It's an icon of a brand that still offers affordable timepieces and is very welcoming to the new watch collectors.
Enjoy the video and share your reasons for loving Seiko!

Seiko for me are excellent value, good quality & such a wide variety at all price points....and lack the pretentiousness of the overpriced swiss brands. Cheers 👍👍

As a very young child, I had, and everyone had a wind up watch. Handwinding. Then, explosion of the red LED digital watches, eventually replaced by LCD display watches. All cheap. We thought, batteries are the future of watches, and digital, and that's it. But I saw an analog 70's Seiko ...and it wasn't running, and the man started to kind of shake it, swing it back and forth in his hand, before setting the time and putting it on. I asked why? He said..."That's how you wind this watch". I was amazed. He then told me it was "self-winding"....after you had it running, just walking around and moving your wrist, normal movements was enough to keep it running all the time. I was hooked! I remember it being the TV shape cushion case (which I don't even really care for that style), but I knew that I wanted a Seiko when I could afford one. It was quite a while, but eventually I got one, and have had more than I can count, and still have about a dozen in my collection.

The only time I've seen a Seiko go bad, was when they were mistreated by the owner. Neglected, banged up, eventually leaked water, or just left to sit idle for decades. At that point, they're not much of any good, or even worth putting any time into repairing. One of my daily wearing watches is a Seiko Kinetic, 7 jewel auto quartz watch, and it's 28 years old! I replaced the old capacitor with a lithium ion rechargeable battery, it can go over a year without even having any movements to let the rotor driven generator add charge to the battery. And it's one of most dead-accurate watches that I own! The entire Kinetic line has been made with exceptional cases and bracelets, often sapphire crystals, and of course, jeweled quartz movements.

I'm a major Seiko fan, the only thing I haven't purchased yet is any of the "recraft" watches, mainly because many have short hands, and I don't care for that look. I like a long hand that reaches nearly the end of the dial. If you look at some, they have very short hands, mostly looking like they just cover the center of the watch.

Great video! I have some US$ 2.000, 00 swiss timepieces in my collection, but one of the watches I enjoy wearing the most is my US$ 65, 00 SNK809. Perfect design, very practical, awesome size, day/date complication and great movement (losing less than 2 sec a day, incredible). Keep up with the excellent content!

No need for luxury when you have crunchy Vostok and Can of Tizer.

Interesting. Just a fine point. Seiko was certainly first (1969 I believe) to successfully market quartz watches, but the development of the movement took place over many years in many countries. Bell Labs documents some of the earliest quartz oscillators. I still have an early Seiko quartz watch I bought on honeymoon in Bermuda 1974, (but not the wife:)...and it weighs about a pound. Great video!

My Seiko 4r39 will last because I never wear it. Frightened to scratch the glass again.
Daily wearers are Vostok Amphibia and Komandurskie 2234 from 1985.

I can't wait to hear how you support Hardlex and the dinasour 7s26 movement. Seiko knows how to create the Seiko myth.
Seagull don't overpromote themselves but in my experience are much better. Still, to each his own.

Seiko do make a fantastic watch. I own 2... my Marinemaster is fantastic piece, although a bit too big. I like that it's not flashy... well, it sort of is, but not in a Rolex way. With that said, I love me that new Air King, however.

Couldn’t agree more Oleg! My grandfather had an old 70’s Seiko when I was growing up and he’s the person that got me interested in watches to begin with. Also another reason to love Seiko is their movements are featured in a LOT of other brands and micro brands. Almost like an altruistic horological gift to provide life to so many other brands

Congrats Oleg & Bond on another Great Video! You made some very good points. What I most appreciate about Seiko is they truly have something for every watch enthusiast, even if you don't love the SKX or Grand Seiko, etc. I have several Seiko quartz dress watches from the 90's, two Seiko 5's, and a Seiko Solar Chrono that I love!

Oleg I need your help. I have just got my second Seiko 5 with 7s26c movement and its -45 seconds out of the box. Its way out of specs and I dont know what to do. It is under warranty ofc and if I bring it back to the store they probably aint gonna replace it and will probably send it to the Seikos service center in my Town for the adjustment. What am I supposed to do? Demand a new watch? Accept the service? I mean -45 to -47 seconds a day is not acceptable by any means possible.

You can’t forget how many watch companies use Seiko movements. So many great affordable watches use Seiko’s NH series of movements.

I actually had a bad experience with a solar Seiko watch. It looked very nice, but stopped working after about a year (after warranty). The watch repair guy couldn't fix it and recommended I send it to Seiko to repair it. I called Seiko and they wanted a lot of money to repair it. I decided to not repair it and just buy another watch (not a Seiko). I think I Seiko watches are great overall (my father had many reliable Seiko watches) and I just got a lemon. I might buy another Seiko in the future.
