I ended up with the starlight M3 16 memory and 256 storage. I wish I would have gotten higher storage but I am super happy. the battery is FANTASIC! I am so happy with the 13" and it has been amazing so far.

I "downgraded" from the M1 Max 32G 1TB MacBook Pro. I just didn't need the beast of power that the M1 Max is. Apple gave me $1200 trade-in - which isn't enough - but no hassle. I got the 13" M3 Air 24G RAM 1TB Midnight blue. I LOVE this computer. This may be my favorite Macbook ever. Incredibly light and FAST. Great video - thanks!

Thinking of getting the 15 inch Air. I agree with the proportions, but the bigger screen trumps that imo.

Regarding the base 8gb configs: I have the m1 air base modell since launch. It's powered on since it's arrived, I only restart it when it requests me for updates. I work with office a lot for work related things, usually have 10-15 tabs in safari, have music in the background and the usual stuff: mail, calendar, notes, reminders, etc. This is the easy part, no problem with that. But I also have a creative tick and I love to edit family videos. These are 4k60fps videos from an iphone 13 mini and imovie has no problem editing it smoothly. I also love to record guitar and do some music in garageband for these videos and it's works perfectly without any slowdowns.

I don't want to save apple here, I also would prefer to have 16GB of ram and at least 512 SSD in the base config, but actually the base model works for me. If I check the activity monitor it usually swaps around 300-700mb on heavier loads, so it's not that critical. I also had my own nextcloud, so the storage also not the biggest deal for me, currently have about 130GB free on the internal drive.

I would say if you are not a professional user just want a machine that works, the base models will be a great companion, you won't notice any slowdowns in 99% of usecases. However if you a professional who pushes the machine limits every day go for the upgrades or even consider the MBP or the mini depending on how much do you prefer portability, active cooling helps a lot during sustained loads.

As a university student, I didn't have enough budget. So I got an M3 Air 8/256 space gray and I do iOS development, full stack web development and some radio astronomy as a hobby with 10 chrome tabs open. Zero shutters or lags so far. No comparison with windows at all in terms of battery and performance. Mac feels immortal and it has increased my productivity.

Why don’t you just buy a cover case for it I have one on mine midnight m3 and it works wonderfully.

Why do people complain about finger prints on a laptop when finger prints are all over your iphone, ipod, ipad glass when using them.

You talk about all the specs which the Apple official infos. But there’re some problems that M series MacBook which you need to review the most, it’s the touchpad and screenshot.

Of course you said that there’s no problem with the touchpad and screenshot. But many people experienced MacBook Air m1 with bad experience of touchpad after buying the new macbook several months afterwards. The touchpad not smooth, even MacBook Pro 2012 touchpad was so very smooth and good, but this air M1 was so bad and mot smooth.

And also after screenshot usually we put the shot directly insert it into Words or Apple Pages. After put it the screenshots for several times, it will loading so ever lasting! Never experienced it from MacBook Pro 2012, even using other things at the same time was never damage from the screenshot like M series MacBook.

So, I don’t know whether your review on M3 junk did the same other like m2 or m3? Without any research or experience it? Better not misinforming.
