That Ice Age metric metaphore is something I'll use from now on. Such a strong way of communicating the gravity of the climate crisis.

A particularly nice video on an important topic, thanks for your work

I always like to look at +1° climate change as 5, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000 joules of energy added to our weather events.

Seems a little more important somehow to know that all those zeroes are being added to our storms, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes and such.

I spend a lot of time watching science videos to learn something new. Here, I learned a lot of new things. I can't point at just one message. But man, it sure is frustrating. Various scientists from different fields are clearly explaining what's wrong and possible solutions to fix them and yet, very few people are willing to listen."

More folks need to get a B.S. degree in natural science.
That way we will get more leaders who value truth and honesty and are more capable.

Yes, less bs.

What's sad is that people who already know this stuff watch this and people who don't understand it, don't

Exactly. Weather is the mood, climate is the personality.

Yet many deny the effects of climate change. My life would end not because of our inability but because of our stupidity 😭

Thinking about what Bill Nye said i think he left out some important details that anti-cimate change like around all the carbon footprint details involved with making all those solar panels and batteries, and replacing them because they don't last forever. And solar panels are more or less efficient depending on latitude. I think the answer is in having several energy sources. I just want to know more about that because typically the Go-Green talk doesn't seem to address these common criticisms I hear

Let me just say. More of this collages and bravo to Niel and Chuck and their contributors.

Is this suitable to play to Year 9 students? I haven't heard it all and just wondering if there is swearing that I need to be aware of.

Jack is GROWING. On the side of Neil, You are, man, getting better and better. When you started this, you were much fun and a bit silly. Now you are not. Better and better questions, viewpoints, all the way in. Great to see how much can people grow within 1-2 years, if one is open-minded. Love ya all.

One solution: Change building codes so that every new house is built with solar panels. Because, The cost of converting an existing home into solar energy, is not convenient. In perspective, investing over $10k for the conversion is akin to pre-paying your electric bill for the next 10 or so years - so where's the $ savings? Furthermore, We can't rely on the rebates because they keep changing/reducing and their disbursement frequency can be annual installments instead of one time pay. Additionally, you need to qualify for the rebate, which indicates there's a risk of failing and ending up with the full cost of the conversion on your shoulders. I've been eager to have solar power in my home, but these issues, as explained to me by various solar customers and installers, are big detractors. The only reason you can overlook the long ROI wait, is if you just bought the home, will be owning it long term, and can wait out the break-even time span. The rebate will shrink that break-even point if you manage to get it. But to be honest, I haven't heard anyone indicate they've received it.. maybe the solar installer took it and applied it behind the scenes; I'm not sure. However, having building codes updated to include solar panels, can simplify this for the home owner.
