Billy was inspired by Charles Finnley (I forgot exactly what his last name is but something like that), a man who left a very sound doctrinal church because he found it “boring”. So he created an order of service—including an altar bench to which Billy called an altar call. Charles was known as a revivalist. He used music to ready people to hear the message then invited them to come to Christ. I left a church that was like that. There was a lot of emotionalism involved and I would often feel pressured to go to the altar to pray. Two out of I don’t know how many elders are the quiet type of people, the daughter of the pastor and her husband who was often not there. I still would have been there had I didn’t have any discernment.

Side-note: Paul was talking more about the charismatic/modern evangelical alter calls, but it’s still applicable to the clip from Graham.

Not the same context, at all. Billy genuinely wanted to help the lost find Christ, others today want their numbers to look good. I don't agree with " you must come forth publicly " however it's not a false doctrine either. I believe that many came to Christ through Billy's altercalls but also many were self deceived. Billy was however, manipulating people to come forward by his applying pressure on them but I'm not sure it was intentional.
