Tesla Model Y Trailer Hitch Cover Removal Without Special Tools

In this video, I show you how to remove the Tow Hitch Cover on a Tesla Model Y without any special tools.

I explain what the manual suggests and why I wouldn't take that route and show you how I do it with bike tire levers.

Thank you for this. I had tire remove kits but not thin enough, so I just used an extra flathead and wrapped painters tape around it for protection. I just keep it in the trunk and worked perfectly.

Just got the tow hitch installed in my Model Y. What a total pain in the ass. It shouldn’t be this difficult to access the tow hitch. The service guy said, use the screen inside your car to open. 😮

It looks like the paint was scratched on the bottom when putting the cover back on. They should have a cover that has holes for the hitch and cable connector.

Why would Tesla allow something so poorly designed on an expensive car like this??? Even the dealer-provided Teslia instructions page for its removal is poor. The video was very helpful.
