They will likely add it later as an option. They always rush the first units it seems, fix issues, improve production, and then figure out the full option packages over a year. I'd never buy another "first" Tesla again after our early S and X - too many issues as well.

Third parties like Torklift will certainly offer a hitch before Tesla. I installed one on my 3, I pulled off the bumper and crash bar and it mounted between the crash bar structure and the body. Torklift has a video on the installation for the 3.

Sad they didn’t include the hitch with the Performance model. Maybe it will be option for the AWD LR models. Or possibly an option from the store once they start adding parts for the Y.

This thing HAD to be designed for a potential tow hitch - doesn't make sense otherwise. As you said they might just scrapped the tow hitch on the Performance to get it out way sooner but I struggle to find an explanation to why a tow hitch would postpone first deliveries by several months or even a year. Thank you for doing this tho!

It's a Performance model, not even the Model 3P has trailer hitch in Europe. So it would be nice to see what's behind that panel on a LR AWD MY. Or maybe they will do like with the Model 3, For EU only?

I wonder if the sub woofer is now located inside the hatch, or still on the side of the trunk?
In particular, I didn't see any air duct to have the air circulating around the sub-woofer amplifier.

If I may, would you mind... to remove completely the carpet to show if there is a way to store a spare tire
flat or in one of the sub-trunk holes to lesser the impact of the space taken by a spare wheel.

Also, if you can measure the size of each sub-trunk holes when there is no carpet
and what material the sub-trunk holes are made of,
I hear that the boxes are made of plastic instead of metal like the Model 3.

If you remove the carpet, can you check all the wires inside the trunk to see if there is an unused plug
on the electrical harness that could be used to connect a trailer plug

Let me explain. It takes while to approve tow hitch/tow bar for OEM. If Tesla wants to offer it as an option from factory, it has to meet more legislation then aftermarket kit. Tesla needs to actually test it, measuring all body flex and apply counter measures when/if necessary. It also requires durability testing on test rig/real life. Those tests take time as they need to simulate thousands of miles of towing. You don't wait with start of production for that. Remember also that this is not body on frame design. It's unibody. You need to bolt tow hitch with cross bar to sill/subframe. Not sure what you were expecting to see there (square tube to slide in tow hitch? That's not a pickup frame).
But don't worry - all electrical connections are there. Bumper has nice removable panel (not really popular as maybe 1 in 100 will have a tow hitch, that cost money for Tesla!), so they taking care of customers.
Wait few months, they will offer a kit. It will require bumper removal for fitment for sure.

Model Y has now a 1600kg tow hitch option when ordering from Norway. But earliest delivery for Norway is in 2021
