One topic that was completely omitted in the discussion is that 95% of the demand is made up of chips of 14nm and above. Therefore if China has already mastered the 14 nm manufacturing process, they won't lose much sleep about the remaining 5% of the chip market. But their goal is master all corners of the chip market and the sanctions has basically shifted the low end chip market into China's hands forcefully which it was unable to do by amrket forces alone before. In effect, US has facilitated the rapid development of the chip industry in acquiring market share with all this useless hoopla at the expense of foreigner. Which explains Tsmc expanding in the US
