This is the perfect example of "Maybe humans have found monsters already, we just registered them as another species."

I love this whole concept of how the threat infiltrates earth’s natural society. They look horrifying, yet they provide benefits which then causes the ecosystem to become dependent on it. Chilling stuff and good commentary

The more realistic horror is made, the more I’m glad that our world is simply our world

This series is so chill, like, there is monsters who will kill people, but they are just kinda parts of life now.

What happens if a Mimic attempts to attack another Mimic who has evolved to look like a human?
Edit: Seven months later I realized something else, another reason the creatures in the story book could be humans is in the story it says the creatures were struggling and had very little food, the crawl popped up around the 1930's, AKA The Great Depression

The mimic part is absolutely terrifying, the knock and the handheld footage along with the mimic's eye peeking through was so realistic.

Ok, before I continue watching further, I find it VERY interesting how the behavior of a mimic kinda behaves similarly to the patterns of a human serial killer. In their youth, they kill small animals (insects, frogs, birds), graduating to bigger and bigger animals (rabbits, cats, and dogs). Then as they age they decide to commit murder. And if they aren’t caught, they learn to completely blend into society all the while becoming a more efficient killer.

Its such a small thing in the video, I imagine most people wouldn't even notice it, but I appreciate the 'Alastors_Angel' username they added to the image of the harvester.
Usernames like that imply that the universe this takes place in is extremely similar to our own, and it adds a subtle level of realism to it that I really appreciate.

About the trimmings- humans will pack bond with ANYTHING. It’s easier when the thing in question is fluffy and cute, but ultimately it isn’t necessary. People get attached to snakes, plants, insects, mushroom slime.. and it doesn’t need to be alive either. Toys, robots, stuffed toys. I think it’s awesome

Id like to note- the guy in the mimic found footage clip likely made his location known unintentionally by shining the flashlight out of his hiding place. It would have not only been a clear circle of light when looking directly at it, but also created a large beam of light on the opposite wall. With the mimic's intelligence, it likely followed that clue directly to him

A super vague theory I have is that humans in different stages of time all came across the Vita Carnis at one point, and left it alone due to survival instincts, but now that we no longer need those instincts as a society, we got too curious. But that's the thing, Vita Carnis was waiting for us to get curious, maybe bc of some evolutionary trait that tells it that once we're curious enough to set it free we need to be made extinct by whatever it produces.

or maybe I'm just high.

My problem is they underestimate two things concerning the mimic and that’s 1. They highly underestimate how well armed some people are like I doubt a mimic could tank a few shots of 30-06 and 2. Historically humanity has repeatedly banded together to annihilate predators so the moment a modern predator species like a mimic appears there would definitely be local forces whose sole job is to hunt down and kill mimics the moment they appear

Ok the mimic has got to be the most scariest creature in the series like cmon it can handle bullets and melee objects and can disguise itself from humanity

for those who don’t know, the monoliths are on the island in the hudson, which is where the prince landed, and where he created the singularity to help the Island Critters.

Tutorial on how to survive:

1. Move to Antarctica

2. Make a base in the air (NOT UNDERGROUND)

3. Make the base (windows, doors ect.) Fireproof

4. If you see a crawl ne'er your location, burn it immediately

5. Make the doors tuff and durable so if a mimic or other entity comes by, it won't break through

Hope this helps! ❤

The concept behind the mimic is terrifying!
Not only is it a creature that resembles humans and eat humans, it's also strong and likely doesn't have pain receptors, so it can tank a lot of damage.
It being able to evolve to look just like humans or become an even more deadly version of itself just hightens my trust issues.

My favorite thing about this is that these are not aliens, nor are they ancient, mystical, primordial beings. They are just an existing species on earth. It’s not like there’s just one of these things for a couple of them, they are a whole ass species that lives all around the world. I freaking love that!

as shown in the document about the singularity, the name of it is "verum carnis" meaning: "true meat"
