living in the sierras nothing compares to the versatile long lasting power of gas. the electrics just wont do the job and the heavier the snow the less you can get done. 3, 2 hour chareges to do my drive way is just not going to get it done. plus the neighbors are disapointed as i have always helped them out as well.

the best snowblower imo is a unit that is powerful and solid look for a good used machine that has wide tires steel chutes and an engine that is either tecumseh or Briggs and Stratton

How can you not test Honda or Yamaha machines?

1) Honda 2) Ariens 3) Toro. Yamaha is apparently as good or nearly as good as Honda but I have seen them anywhere and I’m in southern Ontario, Canada.

-- Note to you guys from a grounds keeper and lived a lifetime in the rust belt. The top two are the last ones you want to get. Easily the worst. For the number two it's very limited, pollutes a lot more in the grand scheme, the self propel is not good (you want wheel drive) and the power wears quickly. The number one (personal pace) is hell on your wrists and because trying to tilt/turn it, the system gets in the way.
Also the video showing the Husq ST224 is wrong. It doesn't have 'tank treads' You really don't want that anyway if you're doing up to 9 car drives (how many cars you can park in a driveway. It's expensive to fix and doesn't articulate as well. Just throw chains on it if you have to.
This is ALL wrong. But I would recommend picks 5-3 as they actually are. Happen to own a Husq ST224 and I'm happy with it. Selling point for me was engineers from Kohler, Tecumseh, and Wheel Horse got together and designed the motor(s). Good steel deck that doesn't skew when you lift it up by a corner. Hard to go wrong with a two-stage TORO or Ariens as well. And Honda (not in here) I can't justify the price. Just don't ever buy TORO underground sprinkler heads :)

Can't go wrong with Ariens or Toro. I went with the Toro. When I'm out blowing snow with my Toro, it sends flurries into the next town.
Stay outta the repair shop. Buy a Toro.
