Israeli Journalist on ICC Arrest Warrants Issued For Netanyahu, Gallant | Amanpour and Company

In a groundbreaking move, the International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity. The court says that both men bear criminal responsibility for causing mass starvation in Gaza. This is the first time that the ICC has targeted the leader of a democratic country and a close ally of the United States. Every member of the ICC -- more than 120 countries, including the U.K. -- is now legally obliged to arrest Prime Minister Netanyahu if he sets foot in their territory. The court also issued an arrest warrant for Hamas military leader Mohammed Deif for crimes including murder, torture, rape and hostage taking, although Israel reports Deif was killed in an airstrike earlier this year. The court was previously seeking warrants for Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar and Ismail Haniyeh as well, but they are now dead. Netanyahu's office has responded that he "utterly rejects the absurd and false actions and accusations," calling the body "politically biased and discriminatory." Israeli author and journalist Amir Tibon joins the show to discuss the ramifications and the mood in Israel.

Under US law it is illegal to provide weapons to a country found to be in violation of International Humanitarian Law and the Leahy Act.

Israeli soldiers who have recorded crimes and posted them on the Internet should be worried.

Netanyahoo defense: “we have the most moral army in the world”. Like any other corner store in New York City has a sign in the window “we have the best coffee in the world”.

Putting pressure on the ICC instead of stopping war crimes? Idiotic.

I guess the majority of the international community is happy with the outcome of the ICC. We want more investigations to take place.

Justice for Palestine. There are hours and hours of filming showing crimes against humanity. This is a shame on the entire world. We watch and do nothing.
