I received this console as a Christmas gift on December 25, 2000 and I seriously lost my sh*t when I saw the blue box. It was quite literally the best item a kid could possibly receive from their parents at that time. PS2 was the peak of awesomeness back then. By the way, I still have the console somewhere. Anyways awesome Nostalgic video man! Hitting them youtubers right in their NERD-HEARTS.

Almost 15 years exactly since the PS2 debuted in the US.

I was one of the lucky people able to get one on launch day (10/26/00). I remember all of the buzz and mass hysteria surrounding the system. It was out of this world!

I picked up SSX, Madden 2001, and Dead or Alive 2: Hardcore. To this day, the PS2 is still my favorite gaming console of all time.

Gran Turismo 3 was the reason I wanted a PS2 back in 2001. Those graphics were so good, and still hold up very well.

I remember when this thing was released, it was practically monolithic. It looked like nothing before or after, and everyone was talking about it. The beauty of those days before the internet was mainstream was that, as you allude to, people would actively seek out new friends/communities within their area and game or talk together. It was a great time.

Still have mine running since release day! Just painted it a matte black and blacked it out with a custom wood grain finish to give it a stealthier look. I also have a small gaming pc crammed into an old PS2 case that's painted a pearl white and has blue accents and such.

Damn this video brings back a LOT of memories! The PS2 was an ultra-premium thing in general to have back in my country then and I only got my first set in late 2002. Had to beg my parents to get me one so I could play WWF Smackdown JBI lol. Played some great games in it like Vice City, MGS 2 and 3, WWF Smackdowns and etc. Got the slim edition in 2004 once it ran it's course.

Fyi your unit is in mint condition man. You really took good care of it. Really appreciate this video of yours!

Great PS2 unboxing, bro. Wish I didn't thrown away the box.. actually I think my parents thrown them out. Still have mine from 2002. Played my heart outta of it during my young teenager years. One of the best gaming systems out there with a fantastic library of games, IMO. Still find myself playing replaying classic ps2 titles every now and then when I'm free.
