Finally someone who knows what he's talking about. YT is fulled with videos about autotuning when actually they don't even know the difference between autotune, chorus, compressor, dubbing vocals etc. Well done bro!

Musicians from the lowest to highest levels use comping because when they are in the studio and they are about to release a recording to the world that they can't change afterward, they want to put out the best performance possible, and really, it isn't cheating if they are taking the best parts from multiple takes. It's a simple fact that a musician will play a song a little differently each time (not necessarily worse), and if the chorus sounds good on the first take, but the verse on the second is better, why not comp from both? Furthermore, spending endless hours in the studio trying to get a single, perfect take with zero mistakes and no comping is unrealistic, not to mention exhausting on the musician and expensive, as studio time costs money.
For example, Adele uses comping in the studio to get the best of each take for a song, but live she just sings; of course it isn't perfect, but in a live setting people go to see her and to hear her "raw" voice.

It has become another effect just like reverb, delay, compression, etc. Everyone uses it these days... no exceptions. I have no problem with it either as long as the singer can deliver a solid live performance.
