My mom runs a "daycare" and 75% of the day consists of her sticking Cocomelon on TV for the kids to watch while she sits in the corner and scrolls through Facebook on her phone. It's depressing and infuriating.

As a kid who grew up in a really rough childhood, Courage the Cowardly Dog was my shit. The feeling it gave me within the portrayal of the house in the middle of nowhere, with the dark undertones and such… I saw Courage as an aspect of me, struggling to stay brave in such a difficult world where it seemed like home and everything about the world was so disturbing. As creepy as that show was, I’m glad that I was able to comprehend the meaning it gave to me as a kid. It took a lot of courage for me to survive through what I got through.

id like to add on to your point about the lazy animation. as a little kid, i loved adventure time, regular show, total drama island, and the amazing world of gumball. looking back now, im more than impressed with not only the animation, but the complex storylines i didnt understand as a kid.

shows now care less about the art and more about profit and views.
coco melon is a clear example of that.

my little cousin watches cocomelon, and while I’m glad it keeps him entertained, it made me smile when he laughed at tom and Jerry. it’s still got the spark, guys

I'm only 20 but I grew up with the 1930s-50s looney tunes cartoons because thats all my grandparents would put on. I still get nostalgia when I hear the music and see the characters, every frame was like a work of art. This animation is hideous and mind numbing.

Cocomelon looks like something Pixar would animate if they were on a bad acid trip.

This crap is mindless. I miss the days of REAL children’s entertainment.

Baby Shark was NOT created by Pinkfong. It’s been a public domain staple of kindergarten classes and daycares for years, but now Pinkfong totally took it over and has a monopoly on it.

The only reason they watch this hypnotising madness, it’s because of their parents. Their parents want them to shut up throwing a tantrum so they just give their phone to them, and they start watching cocomelon, beginning to be obsessed with it.

Watching any 2000s/early to mid 2010s cartoon, there was always a feeling that some adults can even enjoy what those shows then could come up with, so all ages could enjoy it. Each show had its own style and "risk" to form its own style that you could recall them easily.

But Cocomelon? Probably because I'm an adult now, but it just makes me... uneasy? It looks so basic, "safe" and cheerful in the sense ot shoves it down your throat that I don't like it at all. The stiff, weird 3D animation, the annoying music, and the sheer exposure seems so forced and contrived. To me, it's feels like it's made by a money machine, rather than a group of actual people that wanna create a good animated series.

Doesn't help that whenever my little sister is watching it, it makes me leave the room in record time. Even my older sister groans and puts on her headphones when said little sis puts it on.

The scenes change every 1 to 2 seconds. The scenes are also constantly zooming or moving. It over stimulates the kids.

This is creepy!!.... I was watching this video while my 1 year old was asleep right next to me, I was at the part where the kids run in when they hear the beginning of the song and he automatically woke up and sat up to look at my phone... and he hardly ever watches that show anymore (he doesn’t really like to watch it anymore idk why)... and I swear as soon as he saw I wasn’t actually watching coco melon he laid back down and fell back asleep.... I can’t make this up... WTF😳

At my job, we play Cocomelon and other children’s music on YouTube every day. It’s insufferable for me, but hypnotizing to the kids. I feel so bad for them

Normal kids tv shows:

older kids and adults can watch them for nostalgia
Overall good animation
Catchy songs

Cocomelon:
Way too cringe for older kids and adults to watch
Crappy 3D animation
Repetitive Songs that make you want die

I’ve never watched cocomelon before so I clicked on one of their videos to see why it could be affecting their viewers negatively. They use very sharp, or intense sort of clicking noises and music throughout their videos, which I’m very sensitive to I think bc I have adhd. I didn’t expect the audio to be as ‘satisfying’ as it was. What’s insane about this is that after watching 1 video, my grown ass wanted to click on another one. Kids can easily get hooked on this.
