LYRICS:

Ode To Fury Gavin Dunne 2018

Bellows of pain
And scraping of chains
The echoes they taunt and deceive me
Oceans of blame
And rivers of shame
The fury it never leaves me

Grief in the snow
The winter of woe
Has come here to judge and bereave me
Lock up the rage
It rattles the cage
The fury it never leaves me

Always within
To lurk in the skin
The wounds ever aching so deeply
Try as I may
To hide it away
The fury it never leaves me

Long I’ve suffered the hunger
Long I’ve silenced the cry
Long I’ve fled from the thunder
To ascend
Still I try
To carry the pain
To keep it contained till the end

Pour out the anger and hide it away
Lest it spill to the blameless and lead them to pain
In the steel and the rags I will cover the shame
So the innocent need not be judged in my name

Long I’ve suffered the hunger
Long I’ve silenced the cry
Long I’ve fled from the thunder
To ascend
Still I try
To carry the pain
To keep it contained till the end

Bellows of pain
And scraping of chains
The echoes they taunt and deceive me
Oceans of blame
And rivers of shame
The fury it never leaves me

A song about dealing with your anger, finding how to control and contain it - inspired by Kratos & Nordic/Viking music. Please share the vid if you enjoyed it, it helps me to compete with the Youtube algorithm :)

I like how steady it is. there's no sudden burst, or booming chorus. it really shows how Kratos sees violence now, as just being a cold, steady act, which he is forced to do

-You cannot change. You will always be.... A monster.
-I know.... But im not your monster no longer.

This song also can apply to somebody with PTSD and deep anger issues. I made the mistake of using anger as a coping mechanism and it left me feeling angry all the time. Therapy is helping. But the fury never leaves me.

*Pour out the anger and hide it away*
*Lest it spill to the blameless and lead them to pain*
*In the steel and the rags I will cover the shame*
*So the innocent need not be judged in my name*

My favourite line of the song. It shows that Kratos seriously considers the grave consequences of his anger and seek to contain it.

I imagine you said Get me my guitar" before you started the production on this. :) All jokes aside, this is a masterpiece!

"Long I've suffered the hunger,
long I've silenced the cry."

The hunger for blood,
the cry for battle.

After listening to both this and "A Father's Arms" I've come to the conclusion that the songs are from Kratos and Atreus' differing viewpoints. In "A Father's Arms" we see how Atreus sees Kratos. Powerful, mighty, unstoppable. A force of Nature, his power swelling with the music. In this song we see how Kratos sees himself. A solemn and steady beat, the rage and fury boiling beneath the surface. No longer something to be exalted, but to be honed and used.

Two great songs that work even better together!

Long I've suffered the hunger, long I've silenced the cry... to see God of War Ragnarok spoilers before I get the game.

As someone who is undergoing anger management therapy, this song speaks to me. Thank you.

Edit: I just want to thank Miracle of Sound for this. Whenever I'm having trouble managing my rage, my son (5) would just sing this (in jumbled words haha) and I'll start to come down and eventually sing with him. Thank you kind sir.

*Me:* Surely this can't top 'A Father's Arms'.

*Gavin:* Hold my beer.

Kratos maybe a god, but he's more human then most.

Anyone else notice the rattle of chains in the song? They sound like the chains of the Blades of Chaos. Coincidence?

As someone who consistently goes through this, it really explains the aspects of PTSD in combat veterans/survivors when they return. Ty for this, I didnt have a good way of explaining to my family or wife what it was like till i found this song.

While it is certainly not as "bombastic" and orchestral as the first song, I love how it is kinda haunting, slow and delivers the tragic/dramatic feeling of Kratos story perfectly
(I really love the chanting/choir)

Ah, this is quite the fitting song for somebody like Kratos. Dark and foreboding. You did the character much more than justice. I feel as if you have enwraithed Kratos himself with this song. Summoned him to fight for his progeny and to carry on the pain, contain his fury once more.

To Valhalla, brethren. Fight with pride.

I like this one a lot. I dont explicitly know God of Wars story line, but the lyrics them selves I relate to in one way or another. Im a sucker for music of personal suffering and triumph told elegantly, but Gavins approach using catharsis and healing is a golden quality I feel falls short in most genres through out history. Its never missing, its just not often clear. Stuff like Sirona or I Am Alive manages to wrap up pain and longing and give it back. It has a relate-able heart.

As someone who struggles with their depression and anger I have found a comfort in this song knowing someone else is able to describe how awe full feeling mad and angry is, your music has helped me in a way I don’t think you meant it to and I thank you nonetheless m8
