LED Bulbs Flickering with Dimmer

To dim LED bulbs you need the dimmer switch to be rated for LED's, the LED bulbs need to be rated as dimmable and you need to set the minimum load level on the dimmer for the LED bulbs.

I used your video to troubleshoot my 4 LED kitchen lights from flickering. You saved me a lot of cash! I tried to adjust the load on the switch, then all lights went out. So I go to Home Depot and fortunately after 40 minutes going up and down the aisle, an experienced worker, showed up to help this good looking gal looking at light bulbs. So, after he was finished helping her, I asked the worker do I really need to buy a $40.00 switch or can I just use a standard $2.00 rocker switch. He told me I can use the $2.00 switch. So bought one of each and an extra for good measure. The $2.00 rocker switch is in and working great! Thank You!

I knew when I saw your carhart shirt I was gonna get ACTUAL information from what looks to be a real electrician. Thank you for making a simple quick and to the point video. I was digging for exactly what you said all over the internet. I am simply missing the dimmers designed for LED bulbs with the settable minimum load. Mine were for incandescents back in the day. Simple fix, THANKS!

Amazing. Read a dozen articles and watched 5 videos none of which actually provided commen sense solutions. You just saved me a sleepless night and future trips to HD. :) Much appreciated! TY

This solved a strobing problem I've been scratching my head over for a while! Completely overlooked this thinking it was just like putting any other switch in. Thank you!

If there is no tuning dial on your dimmer, try adding back one incandescent bulb, that should raise to overall wattage enough to stop the flickering. Worth a shot.

Hi. I heard someone say that incandescent light bulbs do not flicker with dimmer switches. Is that true? Thanks for the tutorial. I didn't know that you have to tune dimmer switches.

Can you show a photo of the adjustment knob? Is it a dial, a screw turn? I don't see one on my Lutron Diva dimmer. Thanks.

Thanks for the video, I will try this next to solve my flickering issue. Can you do this all while the circuit breaker is on? Thanks.

the problem is when you have multiple led's on the same dimmer, and then you only change 1 led bulb and it starts to flicker... You dont want to change the dimmer setting just for that 1 bulb flickering while all others are working just fine!

How do I do this on a ceiling fan light fixture?

Helpful video but it's a shame that is this is the only way to get your lights set to s minimum threshold without flickering it may not even be worth the switch. With no flicker I have next to no dimming range at all..
